Flying Solo and kind of scared

I've always been extremely independent but not always by choice. Just sort of throw way the cards fell I suppose. Now I am 12 days out from sleeve surgery and have so many mixed emotions, mostly excitement to start this next big journey in my life that I've been so desperately waiting for. And yet the saddest emotion I have is complete loneliness. Anyone go through this alone? And how did it turn out for you? Did it make the process more challenging or make you even stronger and more determined?

Had surgery on Thurs, Jan 18. Discharged Friday night. The first night was rough. Saturday was better. I haven't taken any pain meds at all. Trying to get my protein an water in. Not being able to have a bm is horrible. I finally had one today. Thank goodness. Ended up with hemiroids bigger than the state of Texas! These really suck. This is the only pain I really have right now. I am now trying to figure out what next. Any suggestions would be great.

Preparation H, Preparation H wipes with witch hazel. More Preparation H (the kind that's the gel), Cortisone Cream can also be used (my onc said so).

Stool softeners and regular use of smooth move tea in the early days...

How are you doin' Hon? I'm widowed but am lucky i have my son The Tomkitten still with me and being supportive. I'm still pre surg, hope to have my RnY in Early to mid March, I think you are super brave and remember you do have all of us, you do matter to us here on BP. Keep us all updated.

I have the wipes and the gel. Big help. I have miralax also. Does the smooth move tea really help?

Thank you. I have my son also. Doesn't really understand, but I really didn't include him on everything. He can be very judgmental. I know it will take some time and I need to be more open with him. I am very glad I have him. Good luck with your surgery in march. I am thankful to have everyone here on bp. Let's stay in touch!

Miralax daily and if needed Colace or another softener. Be careful with stimulant laxatives, you don't want to use them too long. The first few weeks miralax in my Powerade daily saved my life!

Tannins in coffee and tea can cause irritation, they ask us to wait a month in my program

I did it alone too. I live more than 500 miles from the hospital. I rented a hotel room for two weeks down the street from the hospital. I set up the room with everything I'd need the day before my surgery (sucked paying for the room for the days I was in the hospital). After the surgery I spent 10 days alone in my hotel room (until my surgeon OK'd me to drive home). I slept a lot of the time, walked around the adjacent outlet mall, and watched a lot of Law & Order reruns.

Pretty good. No complications. A little loose skin. I have lost quite a bit of strength though.
