Looking for some support here. I was sleeved 12/7/17, three weeks out today. These past few days I have been having the most difficult time emotionally and physically. I went back to work on the 24th, and was so fatigued; it was so busy at my job. The next night was even worse. And I'm so sick of this liquid diet. I knew what to expect going in to this but it's a lot harder to tolerate than I anticipated. I'm having my family over to dinner tomorrow, which means I've been cleaning house and planning a menu (which I can't touch!!) like mad. I'm missing food, and watching those around me eat is really bring me down! I feel like if I could just have some regular food (all I want right now is a couple slices of deli turkey and cucumber) I would feel so much better, but I can't. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I felt the same way. The fatigue is normal and once I could eat a bit of regular food I felt a little better! Hang in there!

Absolutely know how you feel. This is just a phase you have to get thru. You can do it. Keep your eye on the prize. You will be able to eat real food soon enough. A piece of turkey and cucumber is not worth messing up your sleeve. Follow your plan and the real food will be waiting on you at the end. Good luck.

I felt the same way at Christmas, all my favorite foods were out and I couldn't touch it. Watching everyone else eat was hard. But I ate Jello and just talked and spent time with my family. They are all very supportive. It was also first time weighing since surgery 12/14/17 and I have lost total 28lbs including the 15 before, so was excited. That helped a lot. When planning your food, add something you can have.

Three weeks out, my plan is cool with a little turkey, a little bit of potatoes, some apple sauce, etc. Cucumbers not so much...need a few more weeks for those. But turkey cut very small and chewed very well is totally ok on my plan 3 weeks post. Deli turkey is so soft, I can't imagine why you couldn't have it. (that said, you should follow your plan)

If I were still on Protein Shakes at this point, I'd be miserable. I'm glad to be eating 1000 calories a day. I feel human again. Also have great energy to exercise....which feels pretty dang good.

This is a tough time of year to have a bypass. I'm 2 weeks post-op yesterday. Christmas was super difficult for me too. Everything kind of hit me all at once. The thought of drinking another Protein Shake makes my stomach turn. Plus this was the first Christmas in a long time that we had dinner at my house and being around all those smells was extremely difficult. on top of all that with Christmas coming on Monday I had 3 days home while my wife cooked.

In the end I did allow myself a couple spoonfulls of Ham, mac and cheese and mashed potatoes but i avoided all of the sweets. Its gotten better now that i'm back to my usual work schedule and what i'm going to eat next is not the first thing on my mind.

I was there in the early stages as well. I had my surgery 12/30 so thankfully I missed the holiday season and just had my first holiday season post op at 1 year out but January was really hard for me last year. I really had some regret in the those early weeks and once I returned to work I was so exhausted I thought I could never make it through the day. I didn't start feeling myself until I was about 3 months out and back on a regular diet, you will get there. Just take it a day at a time. I would go back and do it all again in a heartbeat.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
