Daily Menu Thread for the Wk 11.05.17-11.11.17

>> Wk 11.05.17-11.11.17

Since last Saturday, I have kept a half-eye out for a new thread like "Wk 11/12/17 to 11/18/17" but none has emerged. That was an idea that had a natural death date then!

As it's already the Saturday 18th at 1pm, I guess that the idea fell down.

No, I should have named this differently. If we start new threads each week, the threads will quickly overrun the "Recent Posts" area to the right of the screen. I would hate for that to happen. So I suggest just keeping this thread through the end of November and beginning a December Menu thread. Will that work for everyone?

Fluffy, I don't post what I eat because I am a weird eater. But...I do like to read this. I'm sure the Friday night has something to do with "NO POSTERS". Thank you for starting this. To document your food is the way to get where you want to be. RIGHT It will come together.

I hope it will give people inspiration (not me, cuz you know, I'm pre-surgery), but I know afterward, I will go back and re-read all the posts. So hopefully it will help each of us stay on track, but also help others!

I see ...

The site does need 'terminal' threads too ... ones which die or self-erase after 30/60/90 days or outlive their recent relevance.

Maybe the option for the O.P. to kill the thread when a newer, more relevant one emerges.

(Given the limited number of people who actually update their weight/mass and profile, I'd say it's not a likely winning cause!) :-)

Well, if we self-erase (which we can't, cuz we can no longer edit after 1 hour I think), then we won't have food ideas to go back and look up when we need them?

But, yes, as sad as it is, it doesn't appear that there are many who want to do a daily menu thread. But there are some...lol. So until I get bored with it, I may just amuse myself and post my daily menu in this thread through November, then start one for December. Cuz you know, I'm ornery that way. Andrew Meany and passive resistance and all, "Thank you sir, I prefer not." hahahaha

OK, despite the ongoing ravenous hunger from PT, I'm staying the course and am now officially down a few more tenths of a pound to 230.4lbs (nekkidy/poop and pee free) this morning. I'm continuing to ask myself every time I get a hunger cue at inappropriate times, "Why am I eating?" So far, it's stopped me from major jungle fever interaction with mah food! I sit down at the table for dinner and the other meals I'm either working at my computer or else I'm working at monkey business at my computer chatting with you guys in the forum...not ideal. I should ideally be focused solely on eating and sitting at the table. I think doing a pre-workout lunch and a post-workout lunch maybe help with the hungry, hungry hippo problem I've been having as a result of the added exercise and added hunger.

Question: Do you eat at your table? Do you eat slowly-savoring and chewing each small bite as directed by your doc? Do you put your hand and fork down between bites? I just read an article that suggests perhaps that people who eat faster are more prone to metabolic syndrome. So HOW do you eat?

Eating faster linked to metabolic syndrome article

Study about eating speed and metabolic disease rates-yes, it's only an association study and association cannot prove causation...

Ok, I should eat better. Right after surgery I did sit and eat slowly, but now I've gotten in the habit of grabbing my food and eating any old place, as quickly as possible. (Bad, Bad Berry!)

Yesterday:

1 small apple with 1oz cashew butter

2 cups 2% milk

4oz beef steak

1 egg and 3oz Beans

Total: 1100 calories and 63g Protein

Sorry, Rainbow! I think you are doing awesome! Just a few things to watch out for, is all...

Ok, so yesterday I was extra hungry again.. thinking I need to pay attention to acid.

1oz pecans

4oz pork loin

1oz sausage patty

1 cup split pea Soup

1 egg

1 cup sweet potato

2 cups milk and 1 cup coconut Water

1625cal 90g Protein

I was a really good girl for around 1 and 1/2 years. Trying to eat and focus only on my eating and taking my time to chew. I still don't drink with my meals. I know that is something I will do for the rest of my life. It is one thing I won't have a problem with because it hurts my "PRISSY POUCH" if I try to drink. I notice I have got away from the sit down at the table etc. So I guess I should get back to basic's.

That was the day before me.

You are making very good progress.

I was 174.6 kg [385 pounds] when I met surgeon (late July) and 160.4 kg [353.6 pounds] on the day of surgery (Thur, 12th Oct).

scale said 152.1 kg after my shower before breakfast. [335.3 pounds].

TOTAL LOSS: 24.5 kg (54 pounds)

POST OP LOSS (38 days): 8.3 kg (18.3 pounds)

Your rate of loss is great. 30 pounds is 60% better than me!

I went back to the gym on Wednesday (15th) and the pool yesterday (Saturday 18th) so I expect some acceleration now.

Let's see.

Today I had:

A cup of 1% cottage cheese

1 egg and 3oz kidney Beans

1/2 large apple

2oz rice krispies treat (off plan.. plate sitting there was my undoing)

1/2 cup 2% milk and 5oz evaporated milk

4oz beef steak

Extra Vitamins (they have calories and protein)

Total: 1280cal 83g Protein

Gonna have to be better. Things keep on slipping in. Sigh..

I appreciate it :) peeps can jump on me if it makes them feel better. I just do things, then try and figure out WHY I do it so I can prevent some of it.

I think that 1600+ day takes the award for high calorie count. (Have to have a 700 day to balance it). My typical day is closer to 1100 calories... at least it has been... I see where I'm inching up without really meaning to.

I think I DO get hungry, and tend to grab what's easy. That's why I had 2 fruits or the rice krispy treat. Ready, grab, eat. I'll definitely start making veggies easier to grab instead.

Impressive.

In awe that you can get it to sub-400 calories.

      Hi!
Thank you for replying.   It means the world to me.  It also confirmed what I been feeling about which procedure to choose.   I fall into the category as you do and elected the sleeve as it seemed to be less invasive and recovery would be better and faster,  however I am so afraid to regain the weight back since I rarely eat and obesity runs in my family.   I have two siblings that had the bypass and they have been successful.  My sister was in the high 400's and is about 140 now and has been for several years since her procedure.  I guess I felt that the sleeve would allow me to have more control, however I realized that I can't control my genetics and that is one of the biggest reasons that I am here.  Yes, I have not always made the best choices but trust me when I say that I have been on the loss and regain + more rollercoaster weight ride for yrs! I have spent so much money as I am sure you have as well as many others who are going through this.  It is not easy and anyone who thinks this is a copout is crazy!!! This has been harder than anything I have done including hiring a personal trainer to kick my butt in the gym! And still with all the gym hours, clean eating "not to mention the clean eating cost" I knew it was time that I moved to the next step to finally be who I know in my head and heart cause when I see myself in the mirror,  well let's just say is not the girl I see in my mind.
So thanks again for your reply and I hope that we can keep in touch through our journey.
      😊

I'm going in for a sleeve revision October 4th. It worked well for me, and I am not back to my starting weight. However, a revision is strongly encouraged at this time (there are additional medical issues). I have decided to forgo the insurance process, even though I know I would eventually be approved. "Eventually" is the key issue here. I have a small window to create this to where it will not impact my work or home life as much, and waiting for the insurance approval would take over a year.

I just read @BoredCW's status post and also want to lament the loss of my butt.  Looking at me the side, my back is basically flat from my neck to my knees.  My jeans have lovely fabric folds draping from my backside from lack of filling.
Two days ago, I was sitting on a worn couch at the gym and I could feel the springs and count how many I was sitting on.  Told the Kid and she said she wants to find her childhood alphabet fridge magnets in the basement to spell out words and have me sit on them and do some "butt-braille-reading" 😂

        HI-LAR-ious! I love your kid!!!

Yeah, we all suffer from noassatall syndrome. :(

      2. 2Bsmaller18

Yes. I think the spandex in jeans is the only thing that helps keep the sag below the pockets form looking ridiculous. Even leggings wrinkle there.

        Ah, our disappearing collective butts.

I am seriously considering changing my plastics plan. I am booked for an arm lift in December, but my summer obsession with arm exercises has improved the look of them quite a bit to the point that I think I may hate my butt more than my arms. Should I do a butt lift instead?!?! In conjunction with?!?!?

I am trying to cultivate an obsession with butt exercises but its not working so far...

      4. 2Bsmaller18

I don't think you could do both at the same time. For me personally it's arms. I have granny wrinkles down to my elbows. I can always dover my body with tshirts, pants, etc but unless I wear long sleeves my arms are an issue. I also can't wear a small enough jacket since it fits everywhere but too tight in the arms. They measure around 13.5 inches. Can you compromise and get the smaller arm lift. I don't know if that saves much $ or recovery but if your arms improved that much maybe just a tweek will work?

      5. ms.sss

The difference in price for a mini arm lift and the full arm lift at my surgeon is less thank 2K and probably not worth the savings. May as well pay the extra bit and get the full arm lift as my sag also reaches my elbows. You are right though, my arms see the light of day way more than my butt does...I'll have to see if the continued butt exercises will change my mind down the road (but it's looking more and more that a butt lift is in my future)

P.S. At the beginning of my 2 week pre-op diet, my upper right arm measured 17.75 inches in circumference. Now its 10. And that is with the extra skin still.

On the 3 week plateau from hell.. It seems like an endless desert with sand dunes that represent the 1-2 pounds gain then dropped from day to day. Met with my weight loss group tonight and was told its normal. That this is sometimes like a step, plateau then drop, plateau then drop. Only for the plateau's to go on longer the farther away from the surgery date I get. Much like EDM, I can't wait for the drop.
On top of it all, I lost my ass. Seriously.. its gone. All that cushion that I enjoyed lounging on eating what ever I ate, watching what ever was on the computer or tv... is gone. That glorious support system is vamoosed. I know this because my ass (tailbone) hurts all the time. I'm sitting on bone now and its sore. I am my own literal Pain in the Ass! (My family would say whats new, but who cares about them.. my butt hurts.) I have yet to bring a pillow with me everywhere I go to sit on, but I'm getting ready to as I sit for my job working on computers. So far losing the weight is a Pain. I hope it gets better.

Hang in there, the plateau will end eventually. Also I feel you on the butt thing.

      2. FluffyChix

        I have a butt pillow. I'm not proud. :D

The plateaus suck!!!! Keep the faith and motor on!
