I had no pain in the largest incision (the tummy out incision) and had my surgery 11/15. Well today out of no where while at work, I'm a sales rep on my feet all day, I felt a bit of pain. Now, its progressed to a full blown tugging, stabbing pain anytime I stand up and walk. Even after surgery I was sore but I didn' have actual pain. Did I possibly over extend? Or pulled something? I'm kinda freaking out. Thanks in advanced?

I had surgery same day and My pain came 5 days after. I have that same burning, tugging, holy cow it hurts pain on my left side, but I was told its normal. It’s getting better, but still not completely gone. Last night after watching a scary live I took the dog out and spooked myself in the dark, and ran to the door....the pain came back. Note to self no running!

I’m 1 wk post-op. Sleeved 11/20. How is everyone feeling. So far I’m doing great, learning to adjust to my new stomach but it’s been positive so far.

I had my surgery on Thursday 11/12 and I’m not a pain person so I was in pain but they were really nice and helped me out I did get up and walk every 3hours except at night I stayed 3 days. I say do what you’re comfortable doing. Cause my Soreness is still uncomfortable. I have lost 20lbs since the surgery.

I was thinking of starting the gym today or tomorrow. I was sleeved 11/17. I am so fatigued! But I should go and do something!

I got into a very heated argument tonight with my boyfriend and am scared I could have possibly caused damage to my sleeve or caused a leak? Am I overreacting? Or is this a possibility?

Thanks in advanced.

Damaging your sleeve or causing a leak is extremely extremely unlikely .

Hurting your abdomen/muscles or something like that is a plausible scenario. While perfectly normal especially after a major life changing surgery like this , I notice that you tend to jump right to the worst case scenario often :P

My sleeve was 11/13 and has been such a bizarre experience for me. First I had bad GERD for years before my sleeve and decided to do a sleeve anyway, and haven't had a single issue with reflux. As a matter of fact I haven't had a single typical sleeve problem at all. No abdomen pain at all, very minor shoulder pain tbe first few days, no gas pain, no nausea vomiting anything like that.

However I've had some completely bizarre painful other issues. After surgery my bladder got knocked out from anesthesia, so I had to get a foley catheter (while awake) which was more painful than the surgery and extraordinarily uncomfortable for a few days.

Then around a week ago I started getting the worst hamstring/butt area pain I've ever had in my life. Like crippling pain and ended up in the emergency room all day yesterday. They ultimately said the treatment would be some combination of nsaids steroids and muscle relaxers, all of which I'm not allowed so just take Tylenol (which isn't helping at all).

It's kind of bitterweet not having any problems with the surgery itself , but instead having this mish mosh of stupid random (really painful lol) other **** that keeps happening from it.

I can laugh about it because I'm sick like that, but damn it hurts :o

Anyone else have the sutures connecting their stomach to their skin? I look like I have a second belly button!

I know 😥 I blame it on my friend, anxiety. I get told often that my mind jumps directly to worst case scenario. I was told I needed to baby my sleeve and I think I took that to the chest a bit too hard. Lol

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
