What’s your favorite thing to eat on your puréed diet?

Recommended Posts

Hello! I’m new to BariatricPal! I’m 19 years old and I’m one week post-op from my gastric sleeve.

I’m on my full liquids for another 2 weeks then I can start my puréed diet!

I’m actually really excited for it cause I can eat real food with flavor.

Some people suggest baby food (not the meat but like sweet potato’s, carrots or peas)

As weird as it sounds I’m so excited to eat Hummus and mashed potatoes!

My dietitian said anything can be puréed if you try hard enough but make good choices.

What’s your favorite thing to eat on your puréed diet?

I just finished purees and am on soft food now. My favorite thing, both for taste and ease of eating, was and still is cottage cheese. I always loved cottage cheese and I found that it went down so easily, that it remains a favorite. Also, I loved the pea Soup I made from scratch.

I love cottage cheese also. Now I am a sweet person, I take my cottage cheese and add a little sugar-free strawberry jelly yum yum!!! Taste almost like a strawberry cheesecake.

Oh no! Don't sweeten my cottage cheese...It's savory all the way for me...in fact, if I could (but I'm too early for it) my preferred way to eat it is with onion and caraway seed...like my mom used to make!

Now, that strawberry jelly trick would work well with ricotta cheese in my book...that cheese I like sweetened up!

I’m not big on cottage cheese but the Greek yogurt with fruit or goodies you dump in are really good!

Yes, but I couldn't have most of the fruit and goodies in the puree stage!

Puréed butternut squash, really any winter squash is good. I’m currently eating some pumpkin Soup that is Devine. You can also eat really well mashed avocado.

I like a variation of Eggface's Ricotta Bake using cottage cheese. I'm not in the post op phase yet, just a freak who's "practicing" living the dream so that I'm ready to play when the coach puts me in the game. :D ha! I love CC sweet or savory. The Daisy 2% Small Curd is ridiculously delish and doesn't have hidden ingredients.

@cjsunshine Would you share your split pea Soup recipe please? kthnx!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
