Surgery didn’t work?

I'm sorry my long-winded post drove everyone off the deep end [emoji20] I thought I made a good argument....
* Thinks to self: "Maybe everyone is just exercising too much"... [emoji6]

Nah your post did nothing of the sort. You made good points. People who flip out this way are walking around on edge and totally unstable to start with. Hopefully anyone in need of psychiatric intervention will seek out assistance.

Psychology and journalism -- two degrees that people got when they weren't that smart at my university. Oh, and political science, lest forget.

Well, I have 3 degrees and am the youngest person in the university to ever finish a doctorate. I’m not overly concerned about how intelligent you may or may not believe me to be. What are your credentials, exactly? Non-existent, I would wager

You are tragically insecure. I feel sorry for you, oddly.

Hahaha ummm okay? You’re resorting to this? Making fun of an office that you literally cannot see? My my, the lack of originality is staggering. And humorous.

Quite the opposite, actually. I’m rather egotistical. But it’s cute that you’re playing armchair psychologist.

U sound like me![emoji24] I had bypass on 9/13 and I've only lost 13lbs. What's supposed to be inspiring seeing all these posts about people dropping vast amounts of weight in a short timeframe is actually discouraging to those of us who aren't in that lucky bunch. I've been told, tho, that those lucky 'losers' may have a lot more weight to lose than us, or are starting at a higher weight than us, or perhaps they are exaggerating a bit. Who knows? Mainly, everyone's been telling me that comparing to others is unproductive, everyone's journey is different. I know....I just can't help seeing all those types of threads on here and feel defeated!!

I sent my whole food log to my NUT just yesterday, in fact, to see what she could tell me since I'm so frustrated with my slow weight loss. Turns out, there ARE a few things I need to address. So I agree with previous poster that u should also do this. What we think we're doing 100% right and accordding to plan may not be as close as we thought. For example, I was eating between 700-900 cals a day and getting a MINIMUM of 70g of Protein a day, often 90-120g. Turns out, my docs plan wants me at NO MORE THAN 600 cals a day, 80g max protein a day. And here i thought i was following the plan by the book! [emoji52]

I sympathize with u a million times over and wish u luck as the days, weeks, months continue on. I hope ur weight starts to pour off and u get to post the exciting news!! Take care!

Hello,
I had my bypass 9/18 only loss 11 lbs. Have you seen as difference since you change your calories intake?

I feel oddly dirty for engaging in this thread... devolvement. I will bow out now, with the hope that the OP doesn't bail on the forum because of the bad behavior and thread hijacking.

She already bowed out on herself when she gave up on herself. She further bowed when she, as a WLS patient, thought she would attempt to fat shame. Her presence here won’t matter. She will fail at this journey, there is no doubt.

Evidently you can’t. Lol

But, yes, I absolutely can. However, I don’t want to drive the nutcase to suicide. Her instability is readily apparent.

If you are a psychologist, what you're doing here is unethical and actionable. You're making evaluative statements under the umbrella of your professional expertise that are damning, based on information posted on an anonymous peer support forum, where you have not formed a client/professional relationship. Please discontinue, or I will push for you to be banned from the forum (and I encourage you to seek peer supervision on your conduct).

If I could read your name and the state in which you're licensed, I'd be on the phone with the licensing board first thing tomorrow morning. Please discontinue your unethical behavior. If you don't understand that what you're doing is unethical, please seek consultation.

Lol you’ll push for me to be banned? Have at it. I’m sure the admins put a lot of thought into your opinion.
Actionable and unethical? Wrong again. But good effort, love bug.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
