Almost 4 months post op. NUT encourageing me to wean off my acid inhibitor protonics. Wow. Immediately having heartburn like no bodies business. Like Water is giving me heartburn. Folk that are at least 4 month out. How long did it take until your heartburn was not so bad? Ever? Do you still take a acid inhibitor? Do you just deal with it with a tums? Chronic heartburn can lead to other issues.

wean off my acid inhibitor protonics. having heartburn

@Dabearo

congrats on losing 95 lbs, that's great!!!

don't understand why doc would want to take you off heartburn meds?

do the meds control your heartburn?/help a little??-

tums are a Band-Aid aid, not a cure!!

i can count on two hands, how often i've had heartburn. it is really

miserable!!

i can't imagine having it on a regular basis.

unfortunately , the sleeve and heartburn sometimes do go "hand in

hand"!!

talk to doc again, you are the patient! tell him your strong feelings.

he can't MAKE you stop the meds. (if he has a good reason, ask

him to explain, and then you two discuss)

good luck

congrats on your weight loss:rolleyes:

kathy

I'm wondering why the nutritionist is making these recommendations--shouldn't your surgeon or primary care doctor be in charge of making recommendations about your meds? I'd definitely check with whoever prescribed the medication.

My NUT just reinforces the plan of my surgeon and program I’m in.

Do do you have heartburn Also?

The program recommends a wean. Just trying to gauge what’s normal what’s not.

Our plan used to keep sleeve patients on for 6 months, now it's just 1 month. I'm too afraid to stop! Long term use of ppi's has some risk, but I think the risk of long term acid damage is high.

My Pcp did recommend maybe switching from a ppi to something like pepcid or tagamet. My surgeon ok'd it's use if I needed it.

I've had GERD and been on Protonix for years; my surgeon switched me to Pepsid twice a day, so that's what I take now. I wasn't aware that they might try to take me off it at some point.

Back on my protonics. I’m going to give it another month. I’m only 4 months today. My goal is to be off all pills. I hate them. I’m about to be off my blood pressure pill.

I've been on it for a few months. I still take it twice a day. If I don't it hurts way too bad, no matter what I eat or drink. My doc has never told me they're going to ween me off of it. I'm only like 45 days out.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
