This liquid diet is killing me

Recommended Posts

I hope everyone is counting his/her carbs. The preop diet is supposed to be low fat and low carb and low calorie. If you aren't sure, ask your program peeps.

coffee will make you hungry.

I know that lots of people say coffee makes them hungry...but I think it helps me. It is one thing that I won't give up. It hasn't hindered my WL at all. Gotta have my yummy coffee everyday!!!

I wasn't hungry on my liquid diet. I made sure to have a Protein Shake every 2 to 3 hours. The hardest thing was getting over mentally wanting to eat. But that is something I am going to struggle with even know post op.
You can do this! Stay strong!

theresa_86 I’m 2 weeks and a day today. I change it up with different types for creamy Soups. Tomato bisque, butternut squash Soup, and creamy tomato is the best. I also buy different seafood chowders and I take the chunky stuff out. I’ve had collard greens/ham pot liquor, baked chicken drippings as a Sunday dinner treat. Whole Foods has good soups with tasty broths. It takes forever to take the broth vs the other soup content but it’s worth it. Because I miss the taste of seasonings, sometimes I’ll lick boullion cubes PLUS I love my pop cycles and bombpops. There’s a fat free butterscotch pudding out thatscquite tasty. My mom makes a chicken and veggie stew and once she’s served it to the family, she saves the juice from that and it makes the BEST meal. It help to switch it up a but. I gotta do the liquid meal for another 5 weeks. I had to get creative.

This does not follow the guidelines given to me at all! Sure would of been a lot easier!

@DisplacedYankee Don’t get me wrong. I do the 2-3 shakes a day and there are times that I HAVE felt hungry. However, the different liquid options I mentioned are on a detailed meal plan that was given to me pre- and post op. By switching things up so far as other liquids I’m able to easoer the already difficult task of changing eating habits so abruptly after 47 years. Another difference between you and I is that I’m not a sleever. I have band over bypass. Perhaps aside of having different surgeons, the regimen for your procedure is quite different from mine.

I can understand all of that, plus my liquid diet was for one week. If I had to do 5 I would of been pulling my hair out!

food can be addictive too. As a matter of fact, for me it is. I just don’t know if I’m being rehabilitated or am I just a dry drunk. TBH, I wanna eat so bad this very moment that I’ve contemplated pushing myself to the limit to test this 2 and a half week “clean time” (sobriety) to eat a fried chicken wing or two. It doesn’t help that I have to cook for my 16 yr old. In fact that’s what put me in this talespin. I’m n bed and just wanna sleep to end this torture. My eye is on the prize and my head is in the gutter. GOD HELP ME.

My preop has no guide on how many carbs or calories. Instead it has a list of foods allowable, none of which could cause the diet to be too carby or caloric.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
