Relieved knee pain after surgery?

Recommended Posts

I have moderate osteoarthritis in both knees so walking has been difficult. I'm fine as long as I only walk short distances, but know I need to get my walking in. Does anyone else have knee issues and did their knee pain get relieved with this surgery?

Hello,

I have arthritis in both of my knees and my left knee, more than my right was always giving me severe pain before my surgery. The last time I saw the doctor for my knees was about a year ago. I used to go in and get a cortizone shot every few months in my left knee. My doctor told me that at 46 years, I am too young, but will eventually need a knee replacement. The xrays I had on my knees a couple of years ago showed that most of the cartilage was gone. My doctor told me that dropping some weight would help with knee pain.

So, last summer I was weighing in at my all time high weight of 334 pounds. I had my sleeve surgery in November. I started to notice that the pain in my knees was not as bad after I lost about 30 pounds. Then after that, the more and more I lost, the pain got less and less. Now at 208 pounds, I can tell you that I no longer have knee pain AT ALL! Losing weight helps take the pressure off of your knees, it's amazing.

This is such wonderful news!!! My story sounds sooo familiar to yours!! I was told all the same things, had the Effexor injections in both knees without much relief. I was also told at my last visit a year ago that knee replacement is the next option. I don't want to go that route, and can't really afford to miss 6 weeks of work either. So, thank you so much for your positive comments!! This is very reassuring! And CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss!! That is wonderful!!!

Yay, glad to hear this. Many years of training horses has messed up my knees.

I got Sleeved after having knee surgery four years prior to clean up a meniscus tear- I have mild arthritis in my knees and still take gabapentine and meloxicam for the pain- I am 7 months post vsg and down 80lbs - I am finally feeling some relief in my knees and can walk way farther than I could before - if I can just stop cheating on my diet and get past this plateau at 210lbs then I think I'll feel even that much more relief

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
