Don't feel bad y'all. I had the same pain and same regrets. I was resentful at first because everyone else I read about seemed to have no pain after surgery, but I was writhing around like a shot deer. However I'm a week post surgery and I do feel significantly better. I didn't have any of the issues swallowing that most people do so I have been drink and doing some light eating. I think once you get passed the pain and the liquid diet you'll be fine. Protein Shakes for 3 weeks will make anyone crazy lol. Just blame it on the shakes! STAY STRONG.

Thanks for the advice. Last night I was struggling with my fever and the pain. I think I had just let the pain get too high before I took any tylenol. The tylenol still isn't doing a great job at keeping the pain down. I almost feel like I'm being punished for having this surgery? Idk... I can definitely relate to the shot deer. It feels like I was hit by a semi truck and stabbed 5 times. I'm trying to walk out this gas pain in my back, but it's just not coming out. Had to call the office this morning because they never called in my lovanox shots... *sigh* I really wouldn't recommend the program here in Kernersville NC. I feel like they have too many patients to keep up with. After surgery my surgeon prescribed me dilaudid, but I cant have that due to it causing cardiac arrest back in Feb. So I had to wait HOURS for pain medicine until he was finished with another surgery. Then he came up and told me I wasn't walking enough when I was throwing up blood and in so much pain I couldn't think straight. I had already walked like .75 of a mile too when he said that. I think I'm just really disappointed with the care I've gotten.

I'm gonna be honest with ya'll. I had my sleeve done on the 9th, around 7AM. That was the most pain I've ever been in, in my life. And I've had a c section after 24 hours of natural labor WHILE I had Hellp syndrome which means that my liver was failing. That was a BREEZE compared to this... It's day 3 now and it still hurts to swallow, but I'm home now and trying to get liquids in. They didn't prescribe me any pain medication, other than 500MG over the counter tylenol so I feel like my pain is just getting back up there. I walked 2 1/2 miles the first day and 4 miles yesterday. Gas pain is still intense in my back. Kind of regretting getting this done, but I'm praying it will all be worth it in the end. Just trying to mentally push trough these next couple of weeks.

I am sorry you are feeling so poorly. I had my surgery on the 10th and am worse today (day 2 postop) but nowhere near as bad as you. my doctor wanted me to walk 10 minutes every hour but i can't imagine even walking a mile like this. Maybe not walking as much will cause you less pain. I can' t imagine not having pain medication. I am trying not to take mine (only 1/2 pill in 24 hours) but it is nice to know it is there. also my doctor gave me a pill for preventing throat spasm that makes it hard to swallow. Maybe you can call your doc and ask for a pill for that. Hope you feel better

I just got home last night from the hospital, I was sleeved 10/10. My right side has a stabbing terrible pain and I feel like I'm going to pass out if I move. Has anyone else experienced this? It's scaring me. I felt fine in the hospital, just a little sore, but it's gotten a lot worse. I wonder if it is just gas causing this.

I was also sleeved 10/10. I have some right sided pain but he did a liver biopsy so I attribute it to that. Mine is not as bad as yours though. I would definintely call your doctor. even if it is normal for you The doctor could reassure you and if not he can check it out .

I had my surgery Monday 10/9/2017. I recently started a new job so I returned today (would not recommend & has someone drive me) its a desk job so I am taking it easy. My biggest issue is the gas pain in the chest and trying to take in my liquids. I am walking and soar.

Was your gallbladder removed? Please get in touch with your doc. Gallbladder and appendix are both on the right, so I'd double check with the medical professionals. Better safe than sorry.

Yes I had the same throbbing on my right side. Except I only felt it when I stood still standing up. If i was moving it wasn't bad. It was totally gone by day 3. Welcome to the first week of only liquids. I've been so miserable..i start pureed foods tomorrow

Gastric Sleeve Operation 8am Thursday successful.

Stayed in recovery ward after op from 9am until after 1pm Thursday.

Came to ICU 2pm Thursday and will depart about 11:25 today for the ward after my shower.

No serious pain to speak of (which is good).

Just being disconnected from the machines that go ‘bing’ right now.

Uninspiring Breakfast = one mug of Orchy clear apple juice and one mug of Cottee’s no-sugar GI lime mix up. Yay!

Few meds, in reality. Two Panadol at 4am and 9am. Had my BP meds and a nexium.

The nurse said my self medicator button was only presses 5 times by me from 2pm Th until 8am today.

It’s now 11:15am on Friday 13th in eastern Australia.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
