I don't even know how to do this :-0. Thanks for the info, it makes me feel so much better. Surgery is in three days, nerves are growing. Unfortunately I live in Spain and sugar-free popsicles and Jello are not really available. I do have a good amount of sugar-free jello I brought back with me. I know what you mean, I spend a lot of time in the US and grew addicted to the sugar-free popsicles, so maybe better we don't have them. I did buy a posicle mold and tried making my own, texture is way off from the commercial ones, I just basically get a popsicle shaped ice cube with some flavor. My doctor did say I would spend the first two nights in the hospital and he won't let me go home unless he feels I am able to. Thank you again, your words comforted me.

You will do great! Just one step at a time. And you will get through!! I’ve found a lot of support here and we’re here if you need us! Congrats

Bruno DM me. I can be a great deal of help
. I am a 37 yr old male and I live alone... my mom brought me home from surgery and stayed with me till about 10pm the day I was released. She wanted to stay the night but I told her to go home and sleep in her own bed. I've been taking care of myself basically since I was released from the hospital. It's doable. Your not gonna want to leave for I'd say 2-3 days post op. Just rest and let the body heel at home.. Get rid of ALL the food in your house cause u can't even touch any of it for like a month. Stock up on sugar free popsicles, SG free Jello, and SG free pudding. Also buy the genpro unflavored Protein and mix it with the pudding.. You'll be fine on your own unless u have another handicap not mentioned. I went back to the gym and felt good doing so on Day 8 Post op. Try to document as much as u can..also get reading material or find some new shows to leave. Cause it gets really boring at home

Can I just say I'm glad you put this out there? I love alone I'll be having surgery Nov 8th. My parents will be bringing me home and I'm pretty I'll have to duke it out with my mom about being left home alone, but I figure if I'm alone, I can rest (and heal) better!

I'm packing up inedibles tonight to take to my parents and buying my GENEPRO on Friday.

Your post let me know I'm on the right track :)

Your on a great track... just go into surgery as healthy a possible. We're all being honest, I had 1 binge day like 4-5 days before surgery but that was it. U definately want to go into surgery with your stomach and digestive system feeling healthy I'm sure that's why so many people have the Pre-op diet. My surgeon didn't but going in healthy I know made my recovery easier. Good luck !

A whole day. :-) :D

I was due to be sleeved Thursday two weeks ago and on the Monday preceding, my wife had come home from the delicatessen with slices of champagne ham and a block of 5yo aged extra tasty cheese. I made a 450 calorie sandwich on thick-sliced Finnan sunflower bread as my last break-out meal at about 9pm that evening. (Cos lettuce, Ox-heart tomatoes and lebanese cucumber on it too!)

Memorable!

Yes! That's what I keep telling myself don't overthink things and know that the outcome will be worth it! Thank you, same to you!🙂

Hello everyone

Today is my last day of pre-op clears and Protein Shakes. Tomorrow at this time I will be getting ready to go into surgery. I need to drop my dog in the kennel today, go to work, pick up my kids, then later they are going to their Dad's for 4 days ( I did not want to have to be driving etc, bur I kind of wish they would be here) I will have support of my GF, but she will be working 3-12 hour night shifts, so mostly on my own. I think I will be fine, but I am sure I will be checking in here for moral support!

I am sipping sipping but it's like drinking rocks! Man it goes down hard, I can't get released unless I am drinking 120cc in an hour - you would think that would be doable, right! HA

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
