August Sleevers-How are you doing??

Recommended Posts

I'm the opposite. I can drink an 11 oz premier shake in about 2 minutes. Water and other fluids are more annoying cause it's like I'm a hamster constantly sipping.

@janet610 have you guys tried flavoring your water with lemon or even the kool-aid squeeze bottles? This might help. I know I love water but only drink distilled so I took my own gallon to the hospilal and put it over cups of ice in a coffee cup with a lid so I could pour it into my medicine cups. This all helped.

I'm post op day 12 should I be taking vitamins

Yes, I take a multi and b complex plus a proton pump inhibitor. They require every patient take a PPI for 90 days. I start Calcium sometime soon. Possibly something else. But I'd definitely do a b complex and multi for now while your diet is still limited.

I was sleeved August 21st by Dr Ilan in Mexico and I feel like mine is almost too good. I was in pain when I first woke up but since then I have been walking and no issues. I got home last night and finally feel, all the gas is out from the surgery and general flying. I have not hit my goal with Water yet but I don't have to sip, I can drink normally, my stomach just gurgles a bit. I do have hunger pains, right now I am sating them with broth and Protein water. I got 46 ounces of water and 47 Proteins so far today, went for a nice walk and am feeling great. This makes me think I am broken and it did not take, between the ease of swallowing, the hunger pains, and the lack of pain or issues. Anyone else?

I had my Sleeve surgery Aug 18 in Mexico also. I am feeling just like you are. I experienced very little pain, didn't even take pain Meds when I got home, nothing. I can drink as long as I stretch - stand - I sip Protein Shakes - I walk a lot - and even went backpacking this last weekend carrying 30 pound pack. I do feel hungry but I'm getting used to that. I ate one egg worth of egg whites - really made me full. I nibbled a piece of soft cheese - no issues. Also ate some blueberries that I chewed really well before swallowing. What I did notice is if I ate to much - meaning eggs - then I almost had heartburn - so the limit is the key. Nice and slow.

I was sleeved aug 16 and I'm able to eat and drink with no issue. Worries me a little bit!! I did have pain the first week and couldn't eat or drink. But after about day 15 I stopped losing and felt hungry all the time! I can only eat a few bites but in a couple hours in hungry again. It's just all so weird and I hope it works!!

Well, every time I tried having that Carnation Instant Breakfast junk to get more Protein in, I hurled it so one of the surgeon's nurses recommended that I switch to a Protein Powder I could mix into Water, like Isopure. I don't know how well this is going to work but I bought a small bag at GNC (on clearance) and I'll see how I can tolerate that.

I was sleeved on the 22nd and I had the same experience. I thought I wouldn't feel hunger for at least awhile. Still only getting about 500 to 600 calories, between the food and 2 scoops of the Protein powder. I haven't been weighing because I don't want to get depressed if I stop losing, so wait until I go to the doctor's office.

I was only told to take a Multi-Vitamin and B-12 (2500 mg a week). Later I'll have to take the Calcium but they told me to hold off on that until later. I never had to take a proton pump inhibitor. Not even sure what that is.

Having some upper abdominal pain and discomfort. Is this normal 6 days post op?

I had problems, but I had GERD beforehand. My doctor put me on prescription Prilosec because it was causing pain even to drink.

It's like Prilosec for GERD. They have all their patients take it prophylactic. I think calcium is added at around a month. I also have to take D because I'm already deficient.

Don't know why some surgeons say B12 vs b complex. I know the other B's are extremely important and can cause some extremely awful effects if deficient. I also already give myself 1000 iu weekly b12 injections because I'm extremely deficient there as well. I get nerve zaps and everything without it.

hi Everyone... and welcome to the losers bench... i had VSG on 8/11/17. It was a revision from a 2007 Lapband which after 4 years stopped working (shhhh no one knows). No one knows about my VSG either except my hubby and mom.... i don't want to hear negative things... Anyways after 6 years of trying to do it all on my own and failing each time i decided to go under the knife again... i'm almost 4 weeks out... i feel great... no issues with me thank God. I can drink over 100 oz of liquid and maybe eat 5 or 6 oz... which i don't. i'm so scared of stretching myself out. Every time i'm doubting myself i come into the forums to see if someone else has the same questions/issues... In 2007 there really wasn't much information on anything or maybe i just didn't look. i was scare to share my experience and i didn't want people to know i had chosen the "easy" way out. it took me 3 years to loose almost 100 lbs only to fail myself again... but now as i'm older and hopefully wiser i will re train myself so i can succeed

Good luck and walk tall. We both know it's not "easy" probably one of the hardest things you can do. But hopefully this time you will maintain your goal forever.

Sleeved on 8/9 and i was 4 weeks post op yesterday and tomorrow is my 2nd post op appt and i have several questions for her one being i think one of incisions is infected, 2nd being im feeling dizzy a lot 3rd being i know she will move me onto more solid type foods and im having issues tolerating those kinds of foods that they had me try already like eggs it just hurts sometimes to get it down.

To make matters worse i slipped and fell down my 3rd floor stairs and re-injured my coccyx bone i injured it in the early 90's and again in 2006 (i have a old house and the 3rd floor is used for storage and its still under repair and has no banister yet and the rug on the stairs is old and its lifting up from the stairs and its slippery and i slid down 4 stairs on my butt) so im in severe pain and have a doc appt with my primary tomorrow as well and i know she will want to do testing but im hoping that she will give me some pain relief while we wait for answers. so i haven't been able to exercise

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
