Hey guys! I'm getting sleeved on 8/16 and my husband wanted me to ask you: what can he do to help me pre and post op? What has your significant other done for you that has helped you in this journey?

Thank you all xoxo

Tell you how thin you look (even if you have only lost a pound)

Make sure he's a good sport about healthy food in the house, and good natured about your strange habits when eating out..

Get some viagra for when you want to jump his bones...all. the. time. ! (Sometimes takes a while for this side effect to kick in).

-make sure there's no crap food in the house
-even if I stop at the chip aisle he'll say "do we need those" to which I pout and answer no.

One of the most helpful things is that he understands I can and am going to be emotional about random crap, he knows when to just listen to me be upset with some encouraging words, and when to just hug me and tell me that I'll get over my stall and that it's not the end of the world.
I also do my best to be in a very happy mood when I'm with him, because he does so much for me. I've only once had to deal with pizza leftovers in the house.
I guess that's another one, we don't eat out anymore, it has saved us a lot of money and saved me agony of not being able to eat anything. He's also lost like 10lbs in the process(didn't need to lose any!) haha

At first carried everything. Groceries laundry everything. Brought me Water and hot broth and Protein Shakes whenever I needed them so I don't have to climb the stairs because that hurt. Did most of the cooking for the first several months.I was always concerned about my health and nutrition more so than my weight loss.

Mine picked up all of the slack regarding the housework for the first month. He normally does all of the cooking but he picked up the grocery shopping, laundry, dog walking, etc....and he did it with a glad heart! When I was craving Soup instead of more Protein Shakes, he ran out to our favorite Indian place for take out.

Longer term - my husband follows a food plan that is similar to mine - low carb. It makes it much easier to only have to cook one meal.

Ha omg this happened to me. Ask your husband not your cook anything smelly for the first few weeks. My partner cooked, on my post op day three, shrimp boil and filled the house if spices for a shrimp boil, old bay. I thought I was fount to puke my guts out. I never throw up but It actually hurt me you smell it. I told him wtf.... way to soon.

Ok day 4 post op. He decided a frozen dinner with Brussel sprouts was a good idea. Filled the house with sulfur smelling sprouts. Again no puke but pain from the nausea. I almost asked for a divorce!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
