When does the pain at the main incision go away?! I'm 19 days out and most of the time I'm okay but if I have to cough or sneeze, my incision feels like it's on fire and about to burst open! Hurts when getting out of bed too. The incision is completely healed on the outside. How long does it take before there is NO pain? I also get bad pain in my lower right side of my stomach that goes around to my back, that usually doesn't last more than a day then randomly recurs.

You might want to check with your surgeon. I know we're all different but I had no pain from my incisions after maybe 3 days. Sure, there was tenderness for a period of time but nothing like what you've described. I'd call the doctor ASAP.

Every one heals differently. Your body did go through a major surgery so it might take longer for some things like muscles to heal than for the skin to close up. I would give it more time (at least a week) and if there is still pain to check back with your doctor. Of course if the pain worsens or you notice anything abnormal to check with your physician sooner.

FWIW- I'm 2 years out and occasionally still have pangs of pain near my incision sites. They don't last long, but as said to be nerves. I had similar pains following childbirth regarding my stretched out skin.

I'm a month out and still having mild pain at the large incision when I sneeze or get out of bed. As long as your pain is gradually decreasing instead of increasing you're on the right path, it just may take longer for some people.

Watch for signs of infection! If you spike a temp more that 101, or start vomiting....go straight to the ER. In the meantime, at least call your surgeons office and let them know what's going on. They can decide whether you need to come in.

better safe than sorry!

Best of luck to you

The PA from my surgeon's office called and it is apparently normal. It is only with certain movements (coughing, sneezing, rolling over), that are associated with the muscle contracting. Even though my incisions are healed, the sutures underneath on the muscle may take more time. They only worry if the pain is constant and there was nausea or something. So I'm going to not worry!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
