Hey guys im freaking out here.... i know i have read its normal and even the doctor said it. But im 3months post op and my hair is falling like crazy. The thing that freaks me out the most is that with me having pcos i have had a time where my hair fell off and it was super thin bit this happened within a a few months. But in the past two weeks i have lost a lot of hair. Im even afraid to wash my hair qt this point.. i know this is supposed to be normal but how does this last ? So far i have had no issues with my new stomach but this hair thing is giving me anxiety ... my hair is puffy to where i cant wear down without straighting it .. which straighting makes it fall even more .. or have it on a bun which i can stop noticing how my hair line is thinning... lets also add that i have eczema on my scalp.. im getting my body changes triggered it again... :( im a mess

Search for Hair loss on this site. There are tons of posts. Make sure you are taking your Vitamins. You can try Biotin pills, liquid, Shampoo, or other things that others have posted. For me, I lost hair I could not afford to loose until about month 10, which ironically is when the weight loss came to a screetching halt. I am 14 months out now and can see lots of 3 to 4 inch hairs growing back. My opinion is that the weight loss is so worth it. I know it sucks, but your hair will grow back. Be strong. It is temporary.

I had surgery 3 months ago and am in exactly your situation @nickyvsg! I actually felt that I was writing the post lol.

I've been told to check with a dermatologist as they're better equipped to deal with this stuff.

Here is what worked for me. I started drinking a serving of powdered marine collagen in a bottle of Water every day. I used a brand called Vida Glow. That stopped about half of the amount I was losing. I then started drinking a cup or two of bamboo tea everyday. Bamboo is high in silica which is great for skin hair and nails. This slowed the loss down even more. My hair lost its brittleness and dry full look. My hair became soft and shiny again.

Bamboo tea is awesome. My friend that has waist length hair drinks it every day.

Unfortunately if you are losing hair due to surgery and/or dropping weight fast. Nothing is going to stop is from falling out.

All you can do is combat it by promoting fast growth. That means keeping your Protein high, exceeding your protein goals and taking all your Vitamins. Keeping your Iron, Vitamin D and zinc up are the vitamins you need to concerned with. Despite what people say Biotin is kind of useless.

Try using henna in your hair, it will make the stands look fuller. I lost a lot of hair but it was worth it. I also lost a lot of weight. The hair is coming back but the weight is not. My Hair loss didn't stop until my weight loss slowed down to normal people levels.

There was a research study that peppermint oil was as effective as minoxidil (rogaine) for hair regrowth and more effective at stimulating the growth phase. Hair follicles changes phase every three months from active to resting. You can make a spray with 10 drops of essential peppermint oil with a carrier oil such as almond, jojoba, coconut etc and massage it in, leave in overnight and wash out or add it to leave-in conditioner. I am going to start using this now, three months before surgery. It can't hurt at any rate.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
