I am new. I met with the doctor today and he said I'm an excellent candidate for the sleeve. Being self pay they were ready to schedule me for July. Requirements are psych, medical clearance, ekg, and nutrition classes. I was NOT expecting to be asked this today. I'm not ready to have it in July. He also said that I won't have to do the liquid diet before just clean eating. I'm now nervous and a bit scared.

Hi, I'm new to the process also. Had my consultation with the surgeon couple weeks ago. Did a group nutrition class for the first time today. I have to do 6 months with my insurance also. I'm 35, but wouldn't mind having someone to communicate with through the process

I guess I was the element of surprise that got you.

I talked to the Dr's assistant today. I need to send over my records from pulmonary specialist and the sleep study results then they will schedule me for the nut and psyc eval. She explained about the 3 months / 3 visits with a nut insurance requirement. Let's see how it all goes. Faxing over records tomorrow.

Congrats on the baby!! When I signed up it took a couple weeks to go to the mandatory class, and after that a month before I could get an appointment with the dr. Call your insurance. They'll give you more information. I think in general it's a slow process. My Dr said they're high accredited office and that's why they get a lot of clients. Insurances will deny you if they aren't accredited for the surgery.

Thank you! I spoke to my insurance before I called to ask for a consult. I'm covered and I meet the requirements. The bariatric center here is part of a hospital that is a sister company to the insurance company. They're in network and preferred for care so that should be a smooth part, I hope. I just can't understand how it would take 2 weeks for a secretary to call me so I can get a first appt when I've already completed the seminar. I may call to make sure they got my referral paperwork.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
