My Hunger Has Returned!!

Hi all,

It's been a while since I've posted.. I can't believe it, my hunger has come back with a vengeance all of a sudden!

I was a miracle case really, I started this journey at 260 and within 5/6 months I'd lost 100 pounds and was at goal of 160. But now.. I've started to gain (only 3 pounds) but it's gaining none the less.

People say your tastebuds change after surgery, mine have stayed exactly the same. I can tolerate bread, pasta, rice, fizzy drinks etc. In fact.. everything that's bad for me goes down pretty easy, it's things like protein that I struggle with.

Is there a way to reset my sleeve and start over? I miss that feeling of never thinking about food.. I'm back to waking up in the morning and instantly wondering what's for breakfast.

Help! [emoji30][emoji30][emoji102][emoji102]

If you are less than a year out and hungry at the time, especially immediately after surgery. You need to be on a PPI.

I'm hungry often because my metabolism is super charged. I'm an active person.

I eat every 2 hours, dense Protein.

If you eat carbs you will just want more carbs Since we can eat endless amount of carbs, starting carbs is a bad idea.

Are you a vegan?

My doctor told me about a Protein called GENEPRO yoh can get at GNC. Or had 30 grams of protein, is flavorless and you can put 1 tsp(?) Into any beverage and it will not change the taste. You could try that and get your protein in.

Have you seen the protein shakes at Costco with 30 grams of protein & only 1 carb?

Google search GenPro, is is snake oil with little to no scientific proof to support their claims of being able to defy all known physics.

No, I haven't. Do you have the name of it? I would like to search it. I'm not a member of Costco, but have friends who are. I like the idea of my protein being flavorless because then I can put it in anything, plus my husband can use it to when we work out.

Hey, im 4 months out and i can relate. Theres days when im on overdrive that im famished and want to eat a horse. Takes alot to stick to my diet. I drink the premier protein shakes from bjs/costco. 30g protein each whenever that happens n it helps curb my appetite a bit. Good luck.

I was using genepro but my NUT said stay away. It's false advertising. And that it's impossible to get 32 G protein in I tbls. I went back to injury unflavored. Little flavor but not bad at all.

Gene pro does have a lot of bad publicity and several pending lawsuits. I use paleo egg white powder I just put a 2 tbs on my pureed food or in my yogurat I can add more. In my protein drinks I had 4 tbs

30grams is 25grams of protein., and only 108 calories 1 carb

I never lost my hunger. I'm only 9 weeks out but I struggle with hunger pangs all the time.

same here. everyone kept saying that it was just in my head. I was having serious hunger pains and i was told that it could be just digestive issues. personally i know how both things feel and i still say it is hunger pain.

It's called Premier Protein Shakes & you can get them at a lot of places Walgreens etc. but Costco has the best price. They have a bunch of flavors to.

Are you taking a PPI? Acid can mimic hunger. At 9 weeks all of the nerves are not even reconnected to your stomach for you to feel hunger. Your body doesn't know the stomach is reduced yet and is still producing acid for a full size stomach.

I'm almost 2 years out and I have to go almost 24 hours without eating to feel hungry. The entire first year I had zero physical hunger

what is a PPL? and what type of antacids should I purchase?
