Hey guys, I'm a Feb. bandsters, hope you don't mind the intrusion:smile:

Wondering if any of you have this.

I have a 4 cc band.

Just got a fill yesterday which will bring me to 4.6 cc's. Anyone else over 4 cc's?

Im nervous out being so high, from my understanding then thats it! Lifetime. I'm not going to be able to go beyond 5 cc's. Then its truely 'all me'. EEEEKKKK. At this point I wish I had two bands in place!!!!

Anyone have any similar experience?

Sula and Sunshine,

Are we starting on the pouch test tomorrow the 11th or next Monday I'm game for either!! Are ya'll going to stick with Protein Drinks and Water the first couple of days. Or do you think you'll add some clear Soups? Let me know I'm ready, I have pigged out today!! Not good!!!!!

I am starting today with all liquids. Not planning on Soup, but I also am going to take my quickslim30 to help me this week. Actually, this is good timing cuz I was really restricted yesterday and could hardly eat, so I'm in the right mind to be on liquids anyway.

I thought the menu allowed for cream soup? I gotta read it again.

ReadytoLose,

I hear you on the fear of being filled a full as the band can go and it not being enough. My last visit the Dr. said that they didn't have much further to go with the band fills. That really panic-ed me. That is one of the reason I'm doing the 5 day pouch test. Hoping that it will shrink the pouch and give me some discipline to go further.

I've never been filled to 4.6 - I have a 4.cc band, however, from my experience, a little can go a long way. I was at 3.8cc's and felt like I needed more restriction because I didn't have to take small bites or chew very well. My doc filled me just .2 cc's and it was extremely tight, I couldn't even swallow my own saliva. So don't worry that you feel like you won't ever get that restriciton. You will be surprised at how a little cc's can do so much.

I agree with you, I would love to have two bands, but I would like to have one for my head too!:cursing:

Yes it did allow for creamed Soups.

I was planning on starting today, but ran off this morning without my stuff. grrrr. :cursing:. So, needless to say, I didn't start today. I get a fill tomorrow - OMG, yay! So, I plan on starting tomorrow now.

Readytoloose,

I have a 4cc band and mine is at 4ccs now. Some days I think I could stand another fill, but others it feels just right. I tried to go up just .2ccs before Christmas and could not even swallow the cup of Water the doctor has you drink so they took it out. You will be fine I bet you won't need much more adjusting if any. Keep up the good work!

Sunshine - good luck on your fill tomorrow and starting the pouch test. After your fill tomorrow let me know what your fill is at. We seem to be a lot alike.

Sula - Hope your day went good today! It's been pretty easy today for me, I really need to get to exercising. I intend to do that later tonight. I've only had 2 dr Atkins shakes and 32 oz of water. I'm really not feeling hungery, hope that holds out thru tomorrow. Good Luck!!

I am now 3 lbs away from goal...what happens? I guess that is a question I should be asking my doctor, but talking to him makes me crazy sometimes. I am still getting over the pneumonia and have to go for a chest xray this week to check if I got rid of the infection.

I would think that the band would be loosened or something when goal is attained, but considering I only have probably just over 1cc in my band, I can't imagine how much of a difference it is gonna make for me.

And now that I am close to goal, I am being sucked into the weird unrealistic goal thinking. I am about to hit a weight that is considered "normal" for my height and frame, and physically I look good, but I still see myself as "fat", and keep thinking about women my height who are 115-120 lbs, which still makes me like 25 lbs heavier than that. Then I think that maybe I should just keep losing weight, even though the people around me tell me to stop. Does anyone else struggle with these thoughts?

thanks for all who listened!!! I appreciated it.

with 4.6cc's it does feel too tight, I will have to go to doc's by weeks end if it doesn't loosen some. Cant eat anything (not even icecream, without it coming back to me) had 3 tablespoons of chicken broth today. (not succesfully) But being on the liquid only phase I have dropped lbs. exactly, idk I want to wait a week to find out!

Good luck all

Angyl--congrats on your success. That is really something. And very little fill. You must have worked so hard. I understand the temptation to be seduced into thinking 115-120 is the ideal. I remember that from when I was 16 and probably weighed 140. I got really sick and was in the hospital for a week and was down to 120. That was the magical number that said I weighed just right. It lasted until I felt better and crept back up (and beyond).

I think that it the mental battle. I fight it at both ends now. Maybe I should settle for a goal weight above what the charts or BMI says...then I'd be successful or whatever. And then the inside thoughts...naw...120 is where it is at. I initially thought 170 would be my goal weight. I had a body fat test done years ago and that said I should weigh 173. But more realisitically, I should probably be at 160. Which sounds high, huh? Make myself crazy.

Anyway, yesterday was successful with day one of liquids. I also did a pilates/yoga DVD at my office. So I was a good girl. Today is off and running. Probably do the same routine. It is funny how exercising so much self-control make you feel stronger.

Debbie - we are a lot of like, even our stats are similar. I just came back from my fill, and he withdrew my current fill and only got about 2.5cc's out, which is normal. They never get out the exact amount they put in, they say because some is still in the tubing?

Anyhow, since I've had so much problems with the last two fills and completely closing up, he said he is going to take it a little slower. GRRRR. But I'm really not complaining too much, because I feel some good restriction right now - he filled me up to 3.5cc's and as I'm sipping on some warm coffee this morning, I can hear and feel it slowly gurlgle thru. It's embarrassing as it is loud. lol. I've already called the office and waiting on a call back to schedule my next fill. He said he will fill me up at 1cc or 2 ccs until we get the perfect sweet spot. If my fill appt comes around and I don't feel that I need one, I will just cancel it. But since it takes so long to get into a fill, I'm going to go ahead and schedule it in case this fill loosens up too much. The last time I had really good restriction was at 3.8cc's - and I'm only at 3.5ccs so I'm worried it will get too lose.

I am starting the 5 day pouch test today - brought my creamed Soup, my skim milk so I can make a Protein Shake, and trying to cut down on my coffee too.

Girl, go out and celebrate! Go do something good for yourself, you deserve it.

Now, as far as your weight, how do you feel? Do feel good at your weight? Do you feel it is a weight you can maintain? If so, then you need to stay where you are at, don't look at those stupid charts. Feel good about yourself, you deserve it!

Well, I successfully completed day 2 of the pouch test. I warned everyone at work I might be cranky. But lucky for us all I wasn't! Now for day 3!

Sunshine - I know what you mean about the gurgling out loud there is me and another girl where I work that have had lapband and we were talking about that the other day. We were saying when it happens and someone is close by it makes for really strange looks. Hope your fill stays tight for awhile. It seems like the last one I had has really done the trick, I hope it stays that way. Good luck with the pouch test!

Sula - Hope the week has been good for you congrats on the exercise. I had good intentions, but I'm really struggling with the excerise lately.

I was just posting pics on the before and after thread and I mentioned how I just saw a picture that was taken of me this weekend and it shocked me. I still have such a weird self image. I see myself as, not necessarily fat, but at least chubby, still. But I look really thin in this picture. It's all this dumb loose skin. Not that I have much but it is what skews my self image. Anyhow, for those who may be interested, this is what I look like now.

I have my 1 year before and after pics on this webside:

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
