4 months out - portion size

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone had my operation 14th Jan this year and was 131kg (288lbs) had the sleeve everything went great, back on the fitness and most solids lost 27kg (59.5lbs) so far not sure if that is good or bad compared to other people but I am happy it is slowly coming off

So question time, at the moment I am using little 250ml tubs which I think is about 8 oz but not sure, what size of portions are people currently on when they are this far out, how to measure out your meals? I worried I am going to stretch, I am stopping when I am full and using side plate and kids fork just wondered actual portions other people are having ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1491830605.386073.jpg

I'm almost 5 months post op.

I always use a food scale to weigh out my food. I think it's the most accurate way to do it.

Currently, Breakfast consists of 8oz of a Protein Shake and about a dozen almonds. I have never been a big breakfast person.

Then for lunch and dinner, I am able to eat 3 oz of protein... no more than that and sometimes less than 3 oz. I also usually weigh out 2 oz of veggies, but I am never able to finish them.

I'm getting about 800-850 calories a day, 25 grams of carbs and 100 grams of protein.... it's working out great, been steadily losing weight.

Congratulations on your weight loss.... 59 pounds since January is fantastic!

Yeah see I haven't been weighing I have a wee tupperware box that are 250ml and I been using that for measuring maybe have to get some scales, so worried about over eating are you from the states? I am in north of Scotland in the U.K.

At about 6.5 months post-op, I eat about 3 oz of meat (chicken, pork, hamburger, or salmon) and 1 oz of green Beans in one of my meals. I can eat 2 oz of meat (chicken or pork) folded into 1 scrambled egg in one of my meals, and I can eat 4 oz of cottage cheese with 1 T of sugar-free strawberry preserves in one of my meals.

My stomach capacity is bigger than that because I never feel overly full. That is what I allow myself to have to keep to my daily routines.

So, I eat 7 times per day, about 2 hours apart. This comes out to about 1200 calories, 20 grams of carbs, and 100-120 grams of Protein. In between the eating, I get in about 100 oz of Water and 16 oz of Powerade Zero to meet my Fluid requirements.

Good luck!

There is disagreement regarding your ability to stretch your stomach. I'd check out Dr. Matthew Weiner's YouTube channel (bariatric surgeon in Michigan). He has a video on "stomach stretching" and explains what is really happening.

Hi lass, head to a local Home Bargains and they do a set of cooking utensils that are marked for WL groups and also their scales are great.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
