Weight loss surgery any regrets

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled for surgery this Wednesday I'm anxious to lose the weight but afraid of the strict diet restrictions anybody that's had this surgery can you give me any advice and how hard is it to comply with the new food restrictions like my pre-op liquid diet for a week and right now I'm starving

I personally didn't have any trouble adjusting to the change in diet. When I was on liquids, I did fine. Then after surgery through the liquid, pureed and soft food stages, it was really easy for me.

I am now at over 4 months post op and I have no cravings and it's easy for me to eat healthy.... Proteins first and then non starchy vegetables.

The only problem I have been having the past few weeks is severe Constipation, stomach pain and nausea. Due for another doctor's appointment on Tuesday for help with that.

The only regret I have is that I didn't have this surgery sooner!

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery and I wish you the best.

Thank you for your inspiration I was a little concerned like I said the diet hasn't been all that bad that I just still have the hunger wanting something solid I'm coming from somebody that my family owns a restaurant it's kind of hard to go down there and work in the restaurant because I crave the food that might be a downfall but thank you for your input and I'm looking forward to my surgery as well

Only regret is that I didn't do it sooner.

You will get through the early restrictions, and whatever they are, it all gets better. And you get healthier, happier, sexier, more confident, foxy and fine.

I am only 4 days post op and honestly no cravings. I am not hungry and doing well sipping liquids and getting down shakes. I even went to dinner with my family and sipped Water and didn't feel particularly hungry with the smells. Best of luck

I do miss an ice cold glass of pepsi now and again, but I think of all the things I've gained and it seems like more than a fair trade.

I'm nearly two weeks post-op and still on full liquids. Only very slightly hungry. Barely think about food. Only complaint is I'm bored of the lack of choice in my full liquid diet. Haven't had any overwhelming cravings at all, mostly just sitting there with my bowl of Soup while my family eats BBQ steaks and wishing that were me!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
