Just had to share my happy today!

Recommended Posts

So, I have major depression issues and it seems like I don't get "Happy" very often (maybe 3 or 4 times a month, if I'm lucky) so when I do feel happy I just want to scream it to the world and this is one of those days!

Today was the first day in over a year that I was able to take a shower without being in tears from the pain the Water and loofa/washcloth causes. It actually took a minute after I got the courage to put my whole back under the water to realize that I could stop cringing because it wasn't actually hurting that bad! I wanted to scream and shout from the rooftops that I got to take a nice, long, run out of hot water long shower without crying. I did do a happy dance though, that's for sure!

So, that is my happy share for the day. Hope everyone here has at least one happy moment worth celebrating today. I know I did! (And even if it doesn't happen again for a while, I am thoroughly grateful for it). :D

And if anyone does have a happy moment worth celebrating today (aren't all happy moments worth celebrating? ;) ), I'd love to hear about it!

I have been having a nagging kind of pain on the left side of my chest when I took deep breaths ever since my surgery on 1/17. Today...no more pain. May have been gas pain, or maybe muscular, but either way, glad it is finally gone!

My scabs are falling off after major skin surgery.

I cant tell you much I whoop whooped round the house.

Then I had to lay down as the dancing knackered me but I was still grinning

Yay for a happy day! Well, today is Friday so that is always good. Also, my hubby and I are trying to have baby #2. When I was 290 pounds trying for baby #1, my Reproductive endocrinologist said that IF I got pregnant I had a higher risk or miscarriage, diabetes, C-section, etc. The same doctor said that he was reviewing my treatment from last time and could not believe the difference metabolically. Said that I was literally a new person and WHEN (not IF) I got pregnant, the pregnancy and delivery will be completely different. Said that I am healthier than women 10 years younger. Said that my risks for all the above were just the same as a woman in her 20s. Considering I am 39 years old that is awesome.

So happy for everyone! Here's to more happy days to come! I actually had another happy day today too. I spent the day with my mom running errands, but she was in massive amounts of pain in her lower back so I tried my best to take her mind off of it by making her laugh (which I did with flying colors, I might add :D ) The two of us laughed so much and so hard today that even though it was icky errand day (she and I both despise errand day) it turned out to be one of the best days we've had together in a very long time.

Thank you God for blessing us!

Sorry for the months later follow up, but this is so inspirational! I have at least 2 years to wait before I can start trying and I was afraid of the "geriatric" gestational age of 35. Glad to see we can affect how "old" our bodies are. Also--your goal weight is very near mine, you are awesome!!

As an update, I am almost 9 weeks pregnant! My numbers are amazing this time around and our little peanut is growing each visit. Due date December 28

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
