Day 2, feeling awful.

Recommended Posts

Just has my sleeve yesterday and everything went well. But today I feel awful! The worst part is the crampiness. I think it's gas but it's not moving. Is this common? Suggestions?

The gas pain is the number one complaint of most WLS patients in the early days. As much as you don't want to, walking really will help get rid of it faster. So get up and walk around as much as you can stand to.

Sorry you are feeling awful. I have read others say to walk, walk, walk.

Feel better. This will pass.

I dragged my sorry butt up out of bed and did laps around the house and it sure did make the gas pain subside. But I get that all you probably want to do is sleep. I was rediculously sleepy for 3 days after surgery.

Good to see another Dr. Jones patient. I had him, he's amazing.

Anyway, I had the same surgery on 11/21. The thing I did was immediately after I went to my room after recovery and was cleared to move around, I walked up and down the hallway a couple times. Moving is important and I know from past experience the more you move, the better you're getting your body ready to recover and blood flow moving around.

I didn't have any cramps as you've described. In fact, my surgery was pretty painless. So I feel lucky.

The question I would ask is if you're having movements and going the bathroom, if you aren't, gas is your issue.

If you are going normally or regularly, then it could be something you'll have to just get through.

Good luck!

I agree with everyone else, that walking is the best thing you can do.

Hope it eases soon

Thanks all. Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's just gas, and since I've passed nothing for two days you can imagine the discomfort. But I do feel/hear some movement starting so hopefully I'm at the end. Oddly, it seemed to be the liquid Tylenol that woke things up.

Get some gas x asap. Im Day 18 post op sleeve, already down 22 lbs. :-) First few days were pure hell for me but i also fixed a hernia n lost my gall bladder. However most pain was gone by day 6. Gas x, stool softener n Fiber made all the difference. Hang in there it gets better. Good luck.

I had my LAP band done 2 days ago. Im similar to yourself I feel awful! Hot wheat pack has helped.

I have been trying to so small walks (10-20m then rest) but have been feeling extremely tight in the chest. The hospital gave me a breathing exerciser which Im using after I go for a small walk which seems to help take the edge of the hideous chest pain.

Hope youre feeling better soon :-) x

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
