Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Well were do I begin about how mad I am with dozy registrar, following the probs I had 6-7wks ago, I got my URGENT app just last Thur ( I am now much better, but went anyway for advice if symptoms should return) big,big mistake!!

From Reg' entered the room her attitude towards me was appalling before she asked how I was she said they see people all the time that have gastric bands privately and then return to nhs with complications, she said it was most likely my band had slipped which is BULL**** whats it done slipped back now I'm better. Tried to tell her 3 GP's had said it was oesophagitis she was having none of it - and advised me to return to Chris and let him deal with me. I had app' today with Wendy who agreed totally with GP's and said she would be very happy to speak to reg' concerned and explained band slippage (to supply her name and ph no. in letter)

I have wrote letter of formal complaint to nhs. I should have been treated with respect and not pre-judged.

I had steam coming out my ears last Thurs :tongue2:

Sorry for rant!!

Hi Anita

I was appalled when I read you post. I am due to have my band fitted on 6th Oct - I hope to god that I do not get treated this way if I have any problems. I actually work for the NHS (not a dr) and I'd just like to say the majority of dr's are not like this, I think you just came across the poor unfortunate one that had her head stuck up her own a**e. You should definitely complain and follow it through.

Hope your feeling much better.

Hello there everyone,

Haven't been on here in a while, but I'm back.

6 weeks post op today and 29lbs lost.

Feeling fantastic.

But boy i don't like that feeling of when the food hasn't been chewed propertly and gets stuck. OMG the pain!!!

I love my dinner hot and to be honest, tend to have mush for my dinner so I can eat it faster. If the dinner gets anyway cold, forget it, I just won't bother eating it.

Yesterday I was eating all round me, today I can eat barely anything.

Had my first fill 1st sept and had 3ml put in.

My next fill is 1st Oct, next week!!

All going well otherwise, so long as i chew.

Throwing out my size 20 jeans and trousers is a great feeling, knowing I will never need them again either

Siobhain

Hi Fatpants your very welcome i think you be fine as you say once you can drink and get soft food in you be fine i tried to eat proper food but it kept getting stuck so enjoyed myself ice cream & new York cheese cake yum, next day i came home i got back on track which i have never!!!!! been able to do usually it would take me about 3 months to start again its a learning curve i did feel a bit guilty about eating the bad stuff had to keep telling myself its OK to have the nice things now and again before with me it was nice things every day all day, still fighting off the choc demons  dont think that will ever go so the safe way for me is not have any but having said that i am going to treat myself now again just dont trust myself yet, but for the mo im going to be good look forward to having a bit of choc at Xmas, i think we have to learn its ok to have something you like in moderation, i know i sound like a food junky but for me its an addiction, but before i could never have anything in moderation thats all changing for the better thanks to this little miracle band that has change my life so much for the better, fatpants have a great holiday sounds like you do have good restriction i think you be fine as long as your able to drink and eat soft food  xx

Hi Shoes,

Thanks for your supportive words.

Hi there, bookings for Wendy Stubbs are made through Colleen Campbell. Their number is 0800 78 79 029 and the web site is Weight Loss Surgery Group - Home Although I've not met them yet, Wendy was very helpful over the 'phone when I had a panic in the first few days.

Hope this helps

Hi Anitahug,

I read what you said in your chat, I have also read other banders remarks about going to their GP and nurse for getting stitches out etc... and they have had a similar reception that you got! I seem to be very lucky, my GP had been through a lot with me trying to loose weight and had referred me for a band on the NHS, I had a problem with the psychologist, she talked down to me and treated me like a dozzy cow, on that day it just felt like the final straw, I should have been on the Jeremy Kyle show because I just lost the plot, my hubby chin was on the carpet. It was then that we decided to go private! Since my op, I got my stitches out by the nurse, she was very kind and polite, maybe I was lucky!

ANYWAY..... the reason I am writing is because I wanted to tell you something, did you get your band with Chris? I am assuming yes and that's why you are on here! Chris told me that there had been a problem with slippage in the past so the modified the procedure slightly, now he actually stitches your stomach tissue round the band in 2 or 3 points. So next time you see that b**** you can enlighten her!

After having a fill a week past tuesday, my second, Ive felt like Ive got restriction. I was able to eat one 1/3 of a normal portion. However yesterday I could hardly get anything down not even mashed potato. The band has a b***dy mind of its own. When I think back I was on the phone to my friend while I was eating and may not have been concentrating and something got stuck so since then to sore to eat anything. Well it keeps us on our toes. Is everyone on holiday? jx

Not yet but going on the 7th to tunisia for 3 weeks....I'm soooo excited!

I know we are not supposed to drink whilst eating, but next time you get something stuck try gulping down some Water, one gulp at a time just incase you can't swallow, it flushes the food through, it might be a little bit uncomfortable but it gets the horrible feeling of stuck food away and it's going to be painfully slow going through and painful, so you may as well get it out of the way fast. On the other hand on 2 occasions when I tried to do that it didn't work, and it all came back up! Not good when you are sitting in a restaurant, but it's better out tyhan in!

Hello all. I was lucky enough to meet Kaka this week as we were banded the same day along with two other lovely women. I hope to see them on the board as well. Again, I can't express my gratitude for having this thread and the information it has provided. Thank you all.

We're going to Hamamet, I am really looking forward to it. I made the decision not to have an unfill, as I am afraid I'll gorge myself! Today I have managed to really stuff myself so if I had an unfill I feel it would be a disaster, I also begrudge paying £180 to take something out then put it back in 4 weeks later! Have a fab time on your hols!

Ah Gillian its so nice to hear from you. I miss you and bigsis's comments on here. You always gave me good advice. Right now I think I am at my sweet spot even though Ive only had 2 fills. I can eat 3 crackers with a topping for Breakfast, cup a Soup for lunch and a tiny meal for tea ie 1/3 of a side plate full. Freckles reckons Im at my sweet spot. The confusing thing is I feel full in my chest area and not my tummy so I have to trick my brain into thinking Ive had more to eat than Ive had. If I dont do that I go for that last bite and boy do I pay for it. Still I know this is a learning curve and Im getting better at it. Soooo nice to hear from you again, please check in more reguarly. Jx:mad2:

Fatpants :(

Hi fatpants when I went on holiday to Florida the band did tighten for the first 4 days and then slackened off so I agree with you about not having a defil. Be prepared for the first few days and you should be fine. Have a great time. How much have you lost now? Jx:tongue2:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
