Hi gillian just read your thread about what your eating, there is no way i could eat 3 meals a day, even smaller ones thats why im just having the one meal a day.. im just not hungry, What do you eat during the day?im wondering if im eating enough but i dont want to eat just for the sake of it x

hi wishfull..im having Cereal or porridge for Breakfast, (half the amount with granulated sweetener)have to remember to eat it slow though or its builds up, and can be uncomfortable, but thats just the band doing its job..drink about half hour after. dinnertime is summat like cottage cheese and tuna with biscuits type crackers and bit of yogurt and fruit..tea is summat like fish or fish in sauce and loadsa veg,or whatever families having really. but i found potato hard to go down so i go easy on that now, or chilli and bit of rice, or bit of pasta..maybe bit of desert after, custard or a cream caramel,if i can manage it..it feels like your full to brim after that as it sits in tour "little stomach" for hours..before bed i have a hot chocolate drink, takes my choc cravings (which are def dying down now) off. i am def only eating half the amount as i was before too..will expect after fill it will be sitting in the "little stomach" for longer as the hole its got to get through gets smaller. only thing i havent tolerated at all is bread and chips, which is no bad thing, but we took kids to macdonalds today and they ate the menu while i had a kids happy meal ..the fish finger one..i gave the chips away cos i wasnt even going to try again with those,i had the three fish fingers ate them very slowly and i was ok..had an innocent smoothie as my drink and i got a little cute cuddly dog in my happy meal box so i was sorted!!..and felt full...it usually takes me 2 big mac and large chips to feel anything like!..you know i love (sorry loved) my burgers though didnt you!..esp burger king!..shame about the bread being outa bounds now but, ill get over it..especially as the weights coming off again now.thats a better feeling than a burger (ill keep telling myself that til i believe it?!) ive been living in these stretchy trousers since i had op, but put my normal ones on that i couldnt fasten before and i could pull em down without even undoing button and zip..dead chuffed!..like you were with your smaller size jeans. i keep looking at clothes but am trying not to buy owt till i lose bit more..cos i wanna go in a normal shop, instead of fatty shops!..im gonna go mad in sept cos booked hol for 30th sept..may even buy a swimsuit?!..hope ill be couple of stones down at least for then, and next year, im hoping to be the next M&S bikini model, like myleene class..surely shell be too busy to do owt, shes on everything!!.ill help her out. x

Hey wishful i wouldnt worry about what others are eating as long as you feel you are having enough and not going hungry, your weight loss is good so just keep going with what your doing. i wouldnt change anything. Thanx for welcome gillian, my weight loss doesnt seem to have slowed down from day one so i hope by summer i would be at my goal.

Hi Everyone!

mmm Glad to hear your back and all went well, what are the injections you are talking about?

As I am plannu=ing going by myself one of the things I thought I had better have are slip on shoes, otherwise I saw myself asking the night porter to tie me laces! Are these MBT trainers slip on? Where did you buy them?

Shoes what's the name of the book that you've been reading?

Well I went shopping the other day, I bought those 'opsite' plasters from super drug, I got the bio oil, nurofen melts, mild laxitive, lucozade energy sweets for sucking, I also got 'sea kelp' this is good for hair growth and healthy hair, I got Zinc but I can't remember what that was for and I bought arnica tablets this helps repair bruising from the inside. Anyway if I have forgotten anything p[lease let me know, I don't think you can be too prepared. I just need the joggers and sliop on shoes now and I'll be set to go!

Look after yourselves!

MBT trainers are a negative heel trainer used to excercise the legs when walking, it feels like walking on sand and does not jar the heel and ankle. Only buy them if you are going to use them afterwards as they are expensive around £100, but they are great for walking or supermarket shopping. They look like trainers with platforms, they have an adjustable clip so they can be slipped on, a bonus is that they correct your posture, and I felt much less pain when I had them on even compared to not having any shoes on at all. You might have seen photos of madonna wearing them caus she wears them a lot of the time.

:thumbup:Hi everyone we are officially bandsters now!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL. Hi mmm hope you are well say hi to Sian. We are a little better today (thanks goodness). We found it very hard. I don't know what I was expecting as I have never had any sort of surgery before but 3 days post op and we are getting better. I got very dehydrated and sick on the Saturday back at the hotel. So to everyone waiting to go, make sure you sip at Water frequently. mmm how are you eating crisp breads when you are supposed to be on liquids only? I would be to scared.

When can you take of the dressings as I am finding my skin is getting really itchy?? P.S Dr Chris and Dr Frederick are both very nice.

Welcome back, and I am so glad your both feeling better, it must have hard not having a helper with you I have been thinking about you and hoping all turned out ok.

The cripbread I've been having are the same ones that the hospital gave us, I've had 3 for breakfast with small amount of smooth jam, (they melt so no lumps are swallowed) and for lunch third of a can of lentil Soup, in addition I have had 1 tea 1coffee 2 hottish ribena tooth kind. I'll try a smooth yogurt tonight but not sure how that will work out . I know we are not counting calories but old habits die hard and that will take me to less that 400 for the day.

I'll pass on your regards to Sian, she'll be happy your on the mend.

love mmm

Thanx for that mmm £100 is quite a lot, I might go have a look at them see how they feel, I like walking and would like to walk a lot more than I do now. We do go as a family on a Sunday hike but thats ussually up a hill or something like that where you need to wear walking boots. Yesterday we went for a walk which intailed going along a beach and up a hill on a path, but we got cut off by the tide and had to scale what seemed like a very steep mountain! With a belly like mine this was no mean feet!!!! I should really stick to normal walking!

Love Fatpants:tongue:

I too was one of the group that got done at the same time as MMM if i can suggest one thing it would be to try and find out who else is in hotel due to done and if you can make a move to start a chat, it was invaluable support not only for our helpers having someone to chat shop and dine with but for being able to bounce of each other post op round the table for a cup of Soup mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Hi everyone and welcome to Jacksmum. Hi Garry how are you getting on. Tell your mum thanks for the cuppa Soup. I had wanted to thank her before we went but we were out of the hotel for 7.30pm on Sunday morning. I wasn't very well on Saturday evening, I even rang Dr Frederick at 1.30am on Sunday morning as I was feeling very very ill. He told me that I was dehydrated and that I had an internal bleed so I was stitched from the inside as well. But thankfully am on the mend now.

I am actually quite hungry today???

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
