Calcium Citrate Question

Recommended Posts

Which Calcium citrate do you all take? I take the strawberry Chewy Bite one by Bariatric Advantage. I take 1000mg a day (2 chewy bites) and I loooooove them but they are expensive. They are almost $40 a bag of 90 chews. I need a cheaper option! What do you all take and do you like it? I prefer a chewable.

So pre-op I've been using these. I'm allowed to start my Vitamins and supplements tomorrow so I'm hoping they won't make me sick. You take 2 a day and I believe I paid $10-$15 for a bottle of 90. Hope this helps.

I'm glad you asked this question because I've been looking for cheaper alternatives, too. I take 2 Celebrate chewables a day and one Bariatric Advantage soft chew to get to 1250mg.

You must take calcium citrate and NOT Calcium carbonate. Calcium carbonate is what is in MOST supplements and you cannot break those down because you don't have the stomach acid anymore. You'll have to spend the extra and look carefully for the citrate.

Good luck!!

I buy my calcium citrate at costco. They're horse pills, but I don't have trouble getting them down, and they're about $15 for 500 pills

I also buy a store brand calcium citrate pills (Kroger), they are also horse pills, but they are scored in the center so I just cut them in half (I would not have had a problem with them before surgery, but do now). Can't recall exactly how much they are, I want to say around $16 or so for a big bottle, and I try to catch them when the store puts them on sale as a buy one get one free for an even better deal.

I wish I could take those! But I have to take a Calcium Citrate. Those are a Calcium Carbonate.. Even though I have no earthly idea what the difference is Lolololol @@ResilientMaria

The calcium I take is on my surgeons list of approved supplements. So obviously I wouldn't take them if my surgeon didn't think they are ok.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
