VSG pain vs. c-section pain?

Recommended Posts

For me, C-section was WAY worse. Laparoscopic surgery is far less invasive and I had much less pain and had more mobility much sooner.

C-section was worse. I have had 3 and struggled when having to engage abdominal muscles at all. I recovered quickly from my c-sections and never needed pain medicine once leaving the hospital.

The VSG pain was nothing compared. I actually complained more about a shot they gave me prior to surgery in my leg, it was sore and uncomfortable way more than the surgery site.

Good luck.

I think after being through a traumatic emergency C-section and a lot of pain to recovery my Sleeve will be much easier! Not even scared of the pain at all. Pregnancy and Emergency C section trained me very well!!!

2 c-sections - 1999 and 2003. The sleeve was a walk in the park. I went into the hospital Tuesday morning at 6 am and left Wednesday at 1 pm. I could bend over and tie my shoes, I could walk without using an IV pole to stand up straight. I didn't use any pain meds other than tylenol when I got home and 1 or 2 doses of an anti-nasuea med (I have trouble with nausea from anesthesia.) I was back at work on Monday morning (I'm a desk jockey who is in the office 2x a week.)

Most people say c-sections are way worse! Two more days and I'll find out! Yayayaya!

For some reason I couldn't shake the pain. I couldn't shake the pain from my c section either though so maybe I just can't deal with pain well. I biggest pain was the stitch in the muscle on your left side where the stomach comes out of. I actually decided to watch the surgery on the Internet before I had it. I don't recommend that unless you are good with that stuff. LOL!

I had surgery Wednesday and was in pain until this evening (Saturday). With my c-section I didn't have that pain. But I can say I do feel much better today.

I've had 3 midline C-sections (the up and down vertical incisions - not the cute little bikini line ones. lol) and my sleeve surgery was a breeze in comparison. I was up and walking that night with just a little discomfort. Even though I had pain pump, I was only use the bolus button 2-3 times (mainly before walking the hall and right before bed) a day for the first 2 days so they just discontinued it all together.

When I got home, I used some of the liquid vicodin for the very first day and then didn't need anything after that. It was easy - peezy!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
