Did I slip?

Recommended Posts

I am so scared that my band has slipped. I got sick a week ago and vomited several times. I also dry heaved some. Since then I have been nauseus and lightheaded. Also feel like I have restriction, but I have not even had a fill yet. I was only 1 month post-op when this happened. I called my doc and they don't think it slipped because he stitched it in so well. I feel like crap. Right now it feels like I have a golf ball stuck in my throat. I have only been able to eat a quarter of a cup of mushy food. I have not had reflux, which I heard is a sign of slippage, so that is good. I am really scared that something is wrong. I am gonna call my doc again tomorrow to see if I can get in. I can't sleep- I am so worried. :help::help::help::help::help:

If you have vomited several times, stay on liquids! You are probably swollen and irritated. You most likely haven't slipped so close to sugery and since you have no fill, but definitely get into see your doc ASAP. Best of health!

I just had surgery for a revision of the band after my band slipped. I did not have reflux or throwing up. I simply felt stuck, food hurt to go down, I always felt full, and most of all I had pain and discomfort after I swallowed food AND liquids. I went to the doctor to ask him to unfill me, and the pain still persisted, so i did an esophogram which then showed I had slipped. I had surgery monday to repair it. best of luck to you and keep us updated.

Is a revision like the origianl surgery? Does it cost as much? Is it just a matter of restitching it into place? Please explain how it works.

Thanks!

from what I understand from my surgeon, he just went in and moved the band back into place and stitched it back into place. He then checked the band to make sure that it works and that it didnt leak. Its alot easier recovery though (at least thats the way it was for me). Hope this is helpful.

Lorsbander,

I'm no dr but I don't think you'll have slipped. I've been banded 4 months and believe me you'e going to vomit up many more times!!!!! What I think may have hapened is you've eaten something that has got stuck, (even though you're not filled yet you may still be swollen from the op) and it's irritated and made you swollen. My advice is go see your dr, stay on liquids! It can take up to 7/8 days for it to calm down. You may be light headed because you're not getting enough in you to eat. Best of luck!

Just so it may ease your mind..

3 months post-op I got food poisoning or the flu on my honeymoon, and I was vomiting very very badly for a full 24 hours.

Dry heaves, sobbing between throwing up, the whole 9 yards!

I was so scared I messed my band up, so my next fill a month later they x-rayed.. and he said it was in perfect position.

:(

Hi,

If your band has slipped you couldn't keep Fluid or food down. I've basically been going through the same thing, my surgeon says the band will do this and we need to use Prevacid daily. I hope this unfill works, stay on mushies a few days.

I had a slipped band and threw up only once - I just had terrible pain with pressure as food and liquid went down. It got so bad I didnt want to eat or drink.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
