My name is Hannah. I am 23 years old from the DFW area. I am 3 days post op. I had gastric bypass surgery on 12/16/16.

My highest weight was 465 and I had to lose some weight before surgery, so when I weighed in on the day of surgery I was 419! I haven't weighed myself since surgery. I figured it probably wouldn't change much in just a few days.

The only post op struggles I am having are gas pains. I also scared myself a bit when I drank Water the first time. I drank far too much and felt like I was dying. Not a fun feeling!

I am a little hesitant about my journey. My boyfriend broke up with me right before surgery after spending the entire 8 months before helping me prepare and sharing tips and tricks with me. I'm worried I won't be able to do it without his support, but I know there are support groups I can join.

Let me know if you've just had surgery, too. We can be buddies!

Welcome to your new life!! I had surgery in May/2014 and really had no support because I didn't tell anyone about my surgery!! But since, I assume, you did this for yourself, then you can do this on your own!! You have this forum which I didn't know existed till recently, so you are one step better off than I was. Be prepared for hormone changes as your fat cells dump stored hormones into your system. You'll do great!!

Walk, walk walk. It helps get rid of gas. You will do fine. You have your own support. You have a goal. Keep up the good work you are doing this for you and any one else. People are taken out of our lives for a reason, You will see the reason soon and say Ok. Thank you.

Hang tough...things will get much better. Just concetrate on small sips of Water. Hydrating yourself will be key from here on out!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
