When I had my first appointment in May, I was going to keep this secret about looking into having surgery only my husband and children would know. I than said this is stupid I will tell my family and some of my closest of friends, I guess I should have kept the secret. You would think my choice to do this is affecting there life style. Surgery scheduled November 30th and cannot wait, so many emotions.

Everybody seems to think you're asking their opinion when you tell them. Lol.

Good luck with your journey. I had gastric bypass 6 months ago...I wear a size 7/8 now and I am sooooo happy!

I have luckily been greeted with almost all supportive responses. My sister-in-law was the only one with a negative response and it was to my husband in privacy, not to me. She made the comment that she couldn't support what I was doing. Now...she is also 100# soaking wet so I am sure she can't possibly understand. I know what she said came out of a place of concern, not menace, however it still hurt my feelings.

I have gone through the entire process saying not another word about my journey to her or my brother (even though my brother was quite supportive). I wanted to be spiteful and have the surgery (scheduled for 11/29) and by the time I see them at Christmas, hopefully be feeling better and starting to see some loss and be like "surprise!" Now that I am closing in on surgery day, I have decided to tell them about it, if for nothing else, to have the extra prayers as I undergo the surgery and begin this new road on my journey.

I feel that everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect that. I have NEVER lived my life based on what other people liked or thought, and I certainly am not going to start now. It took a lot of soul-searching for me to get to the place where I admitted I needed to do this because I can't lose the weight on my own and I am ready for my new & improved self.

Good luck to you and remember - we are doing this for US and not for anyone else.

Stay strong. This is about you and not them. Don't let people talk you down. She doesn't know your everyday struggle with being obese. And the hurdles you go through every day.

People are entitled to mind their own business! It's strange how she could go behind your back and being so judgemental. Im sorry i see that as jealousy and not 'concern'.

Obviously she would wanted you to stay fat so she could be the skinny on. Now you are on board and she feels threatend by you.

Go get it girl. And don't let anybody decide what's best for you.

Hope you are well.

To tell or not to Tell that is the question.....

I've told my fiancé, sister and of course my son, then my best friend and 2 co workers. I will let others know after its done, my parents are just to judgmental and I'm 34 I have to do what's best for me. YOLO

When it's done I'll tell my parents but I already know what their reaction will be....

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
