Don't be nervous. They will ask what has brought you to this decision, why you think you'll be successful, any barriers you see to being able to make this work for you. They will also speak to transferred addictions to drugs/alcohol in place of food. They just want to make sure you're prepared for this major life change as insurance companies don't want to approve if it's not going to work. Good luck!

My visit mainly was to evaluated my mental health status, to make sure I wasn't bulemic or have another eating disorder or have depression. Be honest and be yourself, it really helps solidify decision to have this surgery if it's the right thing for you.

Don't be nervous. Just be honest, it's part of a wholistic treatment. They'll ask why you want the surgery, what research you've done, and a few questions like that. Then I had a long test to fill out that just measured how "nuts" I was. Lol!!! No really it had a bunch of true or false questions like....

#20 I am seldom troubled by Constipation.< /p>

(Trick question!!! I rarely have constipation but when I do it always troubles me.)

#24 Evil spirits possess me at times.

#29 At times I feel like swearing.

(F@&$ yeah I do!!!)

#68 I sometimes tease animals.

(Have you met my dog? Open target.)

#72 My soul sometimes leaves my body.

(But it always comes back, sometimes with ice cream)

#124 I was on the cover of several magazines recently.

#336 Someone has control of my mind.

#340 I love to go to dances.

#343 I enjoy children.

(Wtf kind of question is that?!)

They want to make sure you understand what you are doing. That this is no magic tool. That you are getting the surgery knowing your life and relationship with food is going to be changed forever. Its to help weed out the ones that will have instant regret and/or eat thru their sleeve and not be successful.

My psych eval was an hour conversation with the psychologist followed by a longer-than-life battery. I hated taking the battery (because it took such a long, long time), but the time with the psychologist was fine. I actually enjoyed it. She affirmed that my hard work during my pre-op diet (I had already lost 50 pounds pre-op by then) was going to pay off post-op, and it drove me to push harder right up until the surgery date (and I lost 99 pounds by the day of surgery as a result).

If I ever needed to talk to a psychologist at some point in the future, I'd look her up. It was well worth my $25 co-pay.

Don't be nervous. In mine he just asked me some questions about the surgery and why I wanted it. Then he asked a few questions about the research I'd done. He asked my about my home life and childhood. Then he gave me a long list of true or false questions. Some of them seemed really silly to me...

#29 At times I feel like swearing. (Hell yeah I do)

#336 Someone has control of my mind.

Just a few that tickled my funny bone.

(No offense to anyone who answered yes to those questions). :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
