I cheated until my final week my last week I stayed on a strict liquid diet. My surgery took approx. 30 minutes and my recovery has been a breeze. My doctor said because I stuck to the regimen

The diet should be treated as a prescription and not a suggestion.

Plenty of people don't take medications as directed and are fine. Many others don't follow directions and end up with complications or illness.

Your stomache has to be empty to perform the surgery. If you eat after your doctor tells you not to, you risk botching the procedure.

The preop is typically used to treat enlarged livers. Your liver sits right on top of the stomache and needs to be clipped up out of the way in order to proceed with the sleeve. If you haven't followed the diet laid out by your doctor, you risk your liver obstructing the area required.

Your doctor is not asking you follow the diet, but instructing you to. The surgeon wouldn't bother with a preop regime if it wasn't necessary, they are not just trying to make people miserable for entertainment.

What Hammer said... plus...If your liver hasnt shrunk enough to make the surgery safe, the surgeon can go "nope!" and close you back up withing doing the sleeve.

How about you just don't do it?

Look, chances are nothing would happen, but this is life- altering surgery. You are, ostensibly, doing this for better health. Don't you want to be as safe as possible?

Don't you want to prove that you can follow the plan after surgery as well?

in the nicest way possible and with all do respect u are given a prescription for a reason and that is too follow it. I am a nurse and I could tell you some horror stories of people who didn't follow dr orders to this procedure. And we can all make excuses but it's time to face reality it's your choice to allow the temptation get to you. And in no way am I meaning to be rude or mean bc I know it's hard but just here to give u truthful advice please listen to the diet you were given. I work full time have three kids and haven't cheated bc I know that one hour of food isn't worth risking the rest of my life or not being there for my children. This is the meal I cooked tonight did I want some ohhhhh hell yes!!! Did I eat some absolutely NOT. NOT WORTH IT!!! I wish you the best of luck. You can do this I promise you!! I'm on day 6 of 14 day liquid diet I had the headaches till day 4 then they started going away. post-296953-14790796735232_thumb.jpg

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
