"Courtesy" parking for pregnant women and ones with children

Recommended Posts

We don't have that around here but it sure would be nice. When I was pregnant I wasn't exactly bedridden but I had very limited acitivity because my blood pressure would get really high. They wouldn't give me a handicap tag but I would pass out if my pressure got too high. That would have made shopping feasible... I had to get clothes somehow B) It would also be nice with my 2 year old. So many people drive around the parking lot like a bat out of hell around here that I have to hold my 35 lb child because I worry. Plus the whole having to put them in and leave the door wide open is a pain because people park waay too close to the lines. Maybe the idea will make its' way down here eventually.

It is a great idea. You could write a letter to the local malls and newspapers recommending this. If you belong to a local organisation - a church, PTA, or political group - you could ask them to back you on this.

With my granddaughter who is 2, I also cruise the lot looking for a spot close to the shopping cart return racks---because I hate putting her in the car and leaving her there while I trek back across the lot to return the cart. And I HATE people leaving them scattered everywhere to bash into my car!

When I was young and a first time Mom, I had the same issue going to the laundromat.....do I leave her in the car, and carry in the laundry then get her, or do I take her in first......so I would remove her, and lay her on top of each basket as I carried them in and out. Luckily our house was finished before she got too big to do it with!!!!

I agree with green----get involved! It is a wonderful way of meeting new people!!!

Pre-band Confessions - Several of our local grocery stores have these spots as well. At my highest weight pre-band I use to park in those spots. I figured who was going to argue that I didn't look pregnant. After all I'd been mistaken for 9 months pregnant more than once. It seemed like fair payback for the insult at the time. Now it just seems like an excuse for having been too lazy to walk a few extra steps

What bothers me is when people who don't need the spots use them. Like someone who looks as if they might be like 2 months pregnant.

I'm not even 2-month pregnant (only 6-weeks), but suffer from CFS and severe "all-day" sickness. My blood pressure is most always below 100/60. But none of my symptoms show from the outside. I go shopping only under absolute necessity and really appreciate - and need - those parking spots.

Only goes to say that one never really know what's going on in the life of a 2-month pregnant woman, and why she might need courtesy parking spots... It's too easy to judge from the outside...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
