Hi, any sleevers from Sydney?

Recommended Posts

Hi and Welcome!

I used to live in Sydney's Eastern suburbs, but moved to Queensland few years ago. On the Gold Coast now.

It is normal to feel scared and anxious before this surgery.

I had few surgeries before, and never felt nervous, but with the sleeve, I was anxious for a good week before.

Then it happened, and I am now 8 months post op.

Had a pretty good recovery, wasn't as bad as I imagined it to be.

Good luck in 4 days time!

Let us know how you went.

Best Wishes to you :)

Hi @@OzRoo!

Thanks so much for your reply how long did you have to do the pre op diet for? Im only doing it for 1 week but the first day I did stuff up and didn't fully stick to it and I was so stressed that I actually called in to my Bariatric office and spoke to the ladies there I still feel really bad and I'm afraid they'll turn me away on the day of surgery

I had to do it for 2 weeks, the pre op diet.

I messed up too, couple of times and it wasn't an issue.

That's great that you spoke with your Bariatric office.

Why are you worried that you will be turned down, after 1 slip up?

Did the office tell you this?

I know it is hard, the pre-op diet, and after your surgery you will have to follow the post op instructions strictly as the new stomach needs to heal.

The post op food phases are very important for healing and preventing complications.

Hang in there!

OzRoo, no the lady didn't actually say that I'll be turned away but I've read that heaps online. All she told me was to not to think about it and to continue the diet! They are lovely people to deal with though

That's great.

I suppose it depends on a person's BMI and excess weight.

Here are some members who did not have to have any pre-op diet, and some that had to be on this diet for 4 weeks prior the op.

It is mainly to shrink the liver, so the surgeon can see better inside you, and does not have to deal with enlarged liver being in the way.

I was lower BMI 37.1, 101kg, 165cm in height.

My liver was not overly enlarged.

Your diet is only for 1 week, so as the lady said, just get back to eating the right foods and drinks, and stop worrying about it.

Good luck :)

Very welcome!

Yes, please keep me posted, and if I can help or give support, PM me or post.

Yes, this surgery made me lose most of my excess weight. I am not too far from goal, but my weight-loss has slowed down in the last month. Stomach is fully healed. However, the loss will continue ...

Once again, all the best for your surgery! :)

HI Sanaa.a - I know! The waiting waiting waiting! I am going o/seas next week for a few weeks, so could not have surgery until I come back.... hence the 10th. Did you use Optifast for your VLCD?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
