OH!

Don't know if you all know about them, but the thing I found to help the gas pain that worked the best are Gas-X strips that dissolve on the tongue. I found mine at CVS near the antacids, but have seen them at Walmart, Target, Walgreens, etc. attachicon.gif 20161122_174634.jpg

Thanks for reminding me. I need to pick up a pack before Friday.
It didn't help me day 2, but I'm about to try it again.

I am 4 days out and terribly constipated. Does anyone have a suggestion???

I found I had to take them much more often than the recommended dose. My surgeon didn't have a problem with it, but I'd definitely check with yours so they're aware.

I'm going home today, thankfully. I feel much, much better compared to yesterday. I wasn't sure yesterday would ever end, but it did. Just kept reminding myself that time takes time.

How are you feeling today?

I'm 6 days post-op and you're definitely a happier camper than me.

My doctor's office doesn't mind about gas-x. I bought two boxes but since they didn't help at the beginning I sort of wrote them off. Do you take them regardless or when you're uncomfortable? BTW, I hate mint, so it's a big deal to put one on my tongue

So glad you are going home today!

Im also 4 days out, but I have read that it varies for everyone. Some people have it for a few days to a week, others for more than one week. Are you walking much? Taking any Gas-X chewable tablets or dissolving strips? Both those things help me a lot. The more you walk, the faster the gas breaks up is my understanding.

I'm 4 days out and have no gas pain except a little bit left in my shoulder. 90% of my pain has been from that stupid gas. I swear that GasX did help the first night home, but it may have been a placebo effect, which I am totally fine with.

Currently not taking pain meds. The only pain I have right now is coming from my drain area. I must have snagged it or something. Mild, but it worries me.

Coughing is the worst thing in the world right now.

Welp, I'm stalled. I know it's normal, I knew I wasn't an exception...but I have been for over 2 weeks AT A STALL.

I'm doing everything right (Protein, Water, exercising) and although since my stall started I've lost over 7 inches, the scale hasn't moved.

This too shall pass.

Hello,

Yes, I am having my sleeve surgery on Monday (Nov 14th).

I have been sticking to the pre-op diet, taking my Vitamins, drinking my Protein shakes daily. I didn't find that the diet was difficult at all.

Shakes: Premier Protein shake which has about 22g of Protein per 8oz. serving. Have them in vanilla and chocolate. Not bad at all, but before I run out, I might order a different brand.

Also ordered some powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein powder and tried it in place of one of the shakes. Mixed it in 8 oz. of chicken broth. It was real good.

Just found this place and I think it is so cool.... and had fun going through the store.... can't wait to try a few items I saw there.

2 more days! Woohoo!

Not feeling nervous at all... just excited. I am so ready for this!

I wish all of you November sleeve patients the best! Stay positive. :)

-Shelley

I had my surgery on the 14th as well. How are you doing?

Highest Weight - 297

When I Started working with Nutritionist at Bariatric Center - 271

Before 10 Day liquid diet - 250

Surgery Weight 239

Goal Weight - 160

I just saw this. :) I am doing good now. I was in pain for 4 weeks, but part of that is due to an incisional hernia that is quite large and they will have to repair it later. The largest incision from the sleeve surgery was right on top of it... ow!

So we are sleeve sisters? How are you doing since your surgery on the 14th? I hope all is well.

I am down 23 lbs.

HW 334

Pre-op diet weight 312

Surgery day weight 300

I stalled the day I started my 3rd week post op. Stalled for a week. Then lost 5 the next week, then stalled for another week!

Same as you, I did everything right as far as Protein, Water goes. Not much exercise yet.... but a few times on the treadmill since surgery. Starting to pick up on the exercise the last week. It's getting easier.

And like you, I knew I wasn't the exception either as far as stalling goes. I knew it was normal. Maybe I will lose some this week, who knows.

Good luck to you.

Very much stalled. I was told at my appointment today that I need to exercise more to break it.

So far that hasn't helped my stall. Actually, when I increased my walking to 1.5 miles is when I stalled, it's not because of exercise (obviously), but there is science behind why we stall. It has to do with caloric deficit and glycogen.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
