November RNY Surgery Buddies 2016

Recommended Posts

I'm in November buddies. My surgery is November 1st just two more days. I have been on a two week liquid diet. Not as bad as I expected. My husband has been tremendously supportive. He doesn't eat around me. The thing for me is to keep busy. I'm a "boredom" eater. The great news?....I am already cutting BP medication dosages in half!.....insulin had to be reduced by 30% off a diuretic all together. This is going to be sooo worth it. Not to mention how great we will feel and look!! My surgery will be in Viera Florida. Any other Florida people? My prayer is that we all succeed in our goal to be healthier. God Bless.

I used to live in Fl....Lake City, Fl ????

Now I live in Wisconsin....

Mine is scheduled for Nov 28th. I've already done 2 weeks preop diet in hopes of a Halloween surgery but that didn't happen. I'm eating 1 sensible meal a day but keeping to the liquid for the most part. I start liquid diet again on Nov 14th.

November 16th here ..... 1.5 weeks remaining on 4 week liquid/raw vegetable diet .... mostly good .... a few ounces of cheese, one mini candy bar, and I have cooked the vegetables a few times. Definitely prepping for the future but both nervous and anxious.

Had surgery on the 11th... I won't lie. It was not a good experience. Dr casually mentioned he nicked my liver... spend 2 days in a hotel room feeling like I was going to die the pain was so bad. Had a drain in. Passed some God awful used motor oil looking bile... thank God the drain was there for that... still feeling a little rough, it's slowly getting better. Watching for fever and praying for no leaks.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
