Emotional day 2 post op

Recommended Posts

@@facebro29,

Congratulations on your surgery! Day 2 is a really good time to have a breakdown. All the factors are working against you: you are in pain; you may be realizing that this is forever and you now have no choice; you have not lost much weight yet; you cannot get comfortable; you can barely even drink water….etc., etc.,

It is hard, but the good news is that this is often the toughest part, and it usually lasts only a few days post-op. You are doing a good job by walking as much as you can to manage the pain. It is also good that you have the right attitude, such as drinking as much as you can but not beating yourself up over it.

Good luck, and you will feel better soon!

Today is a much better day no pain but still not able to get all my fluids down. About 40 oz Protein and 50 Oz of Water. I don't think I have gas but I seem to belch a whole lot. Is this normal ? And still no bowel movement ..

The surgical gas always takes 3-4 days to work its way out of my body, so that's probably where the burping is coming from. But the stomach's dealing with a lot of trauma right now too...so I think it behaves a little weird while it heals. Mine still seems to, over two weeks later. Lots of gurgling and noise. I'm told it goes away, in time. Just the stomach complaining, I guess :)

I think you're doing pretty well on the fluids. Just remember that the Fluid in your shakes counts toward the 64oz right now, so make that your priority. The more Protein you get, the quicker you'll heal. Oh and as for the bowels, they'll start moving...and most likely they'll be black and kind of tarry. That'll be coagulated blood from the surgery. It clears up over time. But remember that you really aren't putting much of anything in right now, and won't be for a while...so the bowel habits are bound to change.

I was sleeved on Oct. 3rd. Had a large amount of swelling. Swelling is still going down. Has anyone had any weight loss yet? I am not back to my pre surgery weight yet.

Hi guys I was sleeved 4th Oct and feeling so emotional. The pain is fine it's the gas pains that make me want to cry. I am sat in the hospital wondering if I've done the right thing. I know many of you have probably thought the same thing just looking for some encouragement. Didn't know the gas would be this bad. I keep walking and walking but my God this is really bad. Dr won't give me any gas relief. My throat hurts so bad as well. God help me

After to surgery I gained 9lbs!! I'm assuming that has been the fluids. It's been a week today. I've lost those 9lbs and 5lbs off my pre-surgery weight. It will take time we are still healing.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
