Reading all the horror stories on how crazy insurance can be, I guess I was very lucky. I didn't have any problems. I just had to follow the Dr plan by going to nutritionist in his office format least 6 months. Different medical test, and I had to lose 15-30 lbs in those 6 months. I lost 18, I didn't try to lose the 30 because I didn't want the insurance to say well if she can lose 30 by herself, she can lose 50 and so on. Now, having some medical issues did help to I think. I have arthritis really bad, central sleep apnea. Its different than just sleep apnea, central is your brain telling you to stop breathing. I've always kept my weight at 145lbs, but once arthritis set in all the steroids they put me on blew me up. I've now had to be without them and so the pain is awful. It feels better now since I've lost 22lbs doing this 14 day fast. Surgery is Tuesday 4th of October and I can't wait.

your surgeon's office should be able to give you an idea of how it takes them to get approval from that insurance. and they'll also have an idea of when your surgery will be once you get approval - it depends on their surgical load. If they don't have many getting approved/scheduled it could be very quick or it could be a couple extra weeks.

because my surgeon's insurance coordinator had a lot experience with my insurance company and knew my case was an easy approval - they went ahead and scheduled my surgery as soon as they submitted the paperwork to insurance for approval. She knew my insurance would take two weeks to approve and that literally took 2 weeks to the day and because my surgery had already been scheduled, I had surgery 3 days after approval. I had started my 2 week pre-op as soon as my paperwork was submitted.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
