October 2016 Bypass Buddies?

Recommended Posts

I am anxious. I have my pre-op meeting with the surgeon and dietitian on Thursday. Yes, chewing slow and taking 30 minutes to eat a meal is torture. I just keep telling myself, one day at a time. You can do this!

Thank you greennewlife. One day at a time is great advice. Maybe I even need to look one meal at a time right now. Best of luck with your next appointment. I've got one tomorrow morning and again Tuesday.

Are you limited to Clear liquids, or will you be allowed to have full liquids (oatmeal/farina, pudding, sherbet, creamed soups) during your pre-surgery diet?

I'm on a full liquid diet...not just clears.

Then something like oatmeal, or farina, or a cream Soup, isn't out of the realm of possibility for you. That would help with feeling more full, I think. Less feeling like you're starving, whether you are or not. ;-)

Hello Everyone! I'm scheduled for October 4th.

I'm on the 3rd. How is the liquid diet going for you? I'm on Day three and doing ok. Mostly i just wish I could eat. Don't feel tired or very hungry, just sad about not eating. I'm excited about surgery though! More excited as it gets closer and less nervous.

Yes my surgery is the 4th, I'm doing my pre-op diet right now. It's not as bad as I thought it'd be.

I'm on October 3. I'm getting excited. I haven't found the liquid diet to be too bad either. I'm missing food but I don't feel very hungry. I had a WICKED sugar withdrawal headache on Day 2 but that has gone away now. Good luck to you...can't wait to hear about your success!

My surgery is October 4th. I've been on the liquids for a week and at the moment I am starving. My Nut told me it is ok to have low carb vegetables and bouillon so I made a pureed veggie Soup which I use in those moments when I need to eat or I'm going to loose it. It has helped me stay on plan...I'm dropping weight to so that is good. I couldn't take it if it was just the sweet shakes all day long. I may go out and try to find sugar free Popsicles just so I can have something to chew on.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
