Sunday 20 minutes treadmill...15 minutes eleptical...50 crunches.

I got to the Y late and the day care was closing. All I could fit in..

Tonight I'll be going again. I'm gonna see about a step class tonight and see how packed it is. I hate being on top of each other. I just feel like I get more out of classes. Also I'm worried I'm gonna get really bored soon.

Hey whos, I've been strength training for a couple of weeks now and I hired a personal trainer. She told me if you want to melt fat and make your muscles look really cut, you just have to burn them out. I was doing your typical 3 sets of 12 of all kinds of exercises and she said no no no! I'm now using much lighter weights (5lbs for upper body, 30-50lb for lower body) and doing 50 or so reps and 2 sets with no breaks in between.

I'm not telling you that you should do this, but the trainer was telling me that your better off (me personally) working out this way for now, while you still have over 50+lbs to lose, then once you've lost all the weight that you want to, and want to build muscle you can slowly increase weight and decrease on reps.

jmcambra-- heyt thanks thats good advice! I will probably use that info when i get started. I got to say though that the swimming is dropping the pounds off me so maybe i should stick to whats working.

I dont know yet, id like to do 4 swims a week and 2-3 weight lifting.

That's awesome whos, definately keep swimming in the routine because its totally working. And the trainer did say that the weight loss would slow because your increasing muscle, but you do want the muscle to be there once the weight is gone...

Tuesday 18th

p.m. Started week 4 AGAIN of the program. I did it this time. It sucks though.

Starts with 5 min. warm up walk.

3 min. jogging

90 sec. walking

5 min. jogging

2 1/2 min. walking

3 min. jogging

90 sec. walking

5 min jogging

That really really sucks. I am wondering tonight why I started doing this in the first place??? I still am wondering.

You all are doing fabulous. Whos you have lost soooo much weight. You are on fire!!!

Okay 20 minutes on eleptical 20 minutes on weight machines. My trainer left me a little note that I haven't been meeting my weight training goals..lol. Also did 50 crunches on the floor..i swear the old fashioned way works the best for crunches. and I LOVEEEE the way my abs are sore.

Wednesday is day off..which is good cause my kid is getting a bit tired of the ymca. yikes..I need to keep her excited about it or I'm in trouble.

areelady- Thanks so much for the encouragement! You keep it up too! Your doing awesome! Week 4 looks like its gona hurt for a while but you keep going ya hear me! :whoo:

Dibaby----AWESOME!!! Love those sore abs!!! You keep on keeping on!

jmcambra-- i took your advice and started doing a little weights today, arm, chest, shoulders. Used a lower weight and did 25-30 reps, 3 sets per area with about a 20 second rest between. Took 30mins as i wanted to break in slow, i used to lift weights alot in my teens, early 20's and i know the first few times you got to break in slow. Then i swam for 45 mins and o boy was that weird. My arms felt so light i dont think i could go in a straight line.

Had my first fill yesterday...2cc in my VG band. Then i actualy had a little trouble getting Water down after so i must have a good restriction already. Didnt eat. This morning i made my usual 1/2cup egg beaters for breakie at work and i could only eat half of it and i feel like i just had thanksgiving dinner...;) I know it will ease off over the next couple of days but it sure is nice for now.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
