I want to say something. I'm not saying this because it was a diet either. So in my spiritual walk with God there are times when I fast. I fasted for a week. It was a fast that consisted of No food until after 4pm . No meats, No Sweets, No Soda, No Alcohol, No Fried Foods. Even though it was Not a diet I felt amazing. Yes I was hungry at times but then I sipped on Water. While doing this I was gaining strength to be able to do this liquid diet and let his life style change. Once the fast ended I wanted some grilled chicken and turkey burgers . Let me say this my stomach is extremely bloated. I feel like crap right now I was nauseous . It just doesn't feel right. I believe we all can do what we set our minds too. I know believe that I can do this. I probably will not have surgery until the end of Dec but I am going to cut out friend foods the way I use to eat them. And just do chicken and fish. I have a pack of country style ribs in the freezer I will cook and get rid of but after that I must change. I felt lighter and more energized with out eating all that junk everyday. Oh and I lost 12 pounds . Amazing. Glory to God.

Just got off the phone with my hospital, they called to do my pre-registration.

She said everything is all approved through insurance and I’m good to go! I was a bit worried about that as I have heard Cigna can sometimes be troublesome, I've seen folks here really struggle with their own insurances, and I hadn't heard anything from them yet.

In the home stretch of my pre-op diet, 5 and a half days to surgery. Haven't gone over my calorie or carb goal a single time.

So ready. Surgery is 10/27 and can't come fast enough.

I have a stock of Protein shakes set by for the preop phase, and just put together a recumbent exercise bike for daily exercise, as my spine and knee issues make walking difficult.

Having mine in SoCal. You?

I'm jst starting a YouTube chnnl & I'm going to take videos as much as I can throughout the process....one: for something to look back on for motivation when I hit "stalls" & two: so others who have many questions can at least see what I'm going through...

I put up a "test video" last night...jst because...but I am going to start documenting my PreOp visits, shopping for things I'll need postop, my actual surgery date (film as much as I can in the hospital), post op (pain & water/food/vitamin intake) etc....

If anyone wants to watch or follow: look for ..."BariatricGirl 4life" under R&Y intro (I think)... I also have a FB page under the same name if anyone wants to add or follow!!!

more to come!!

Just 5 short weeks ago, October 5th seemed like an eternity away. Now I staring down the last 4 days of my old life and getting ready to welcome the new. It's been a rough 3 weeks of pre-op diet. I have to say thank you to my family and to the fellow Bariatric pals on here for helping me through. It's been interesting to see how different the pre-op requirements are around the country.

This weekend I'm going to get my hospital bag ready, go grocery shopping for the family and make sure everything is in order, so I don't have to worry about anything but getting healthy.

We have several other pals with surgeries this week...what are you doing to get ready? How are you feeling?

Tammy

My surgery is October 6th as well! Pre op diet started September 22nd. 4 shakes daily and a meal with 4oz lean meat, 1 cup cooked veggies (low carb), 2 cups raw veggies (low carb). Day before surgery 5 shakes.

I hope your surgery goes well and you have a speedy recovery.

That's great. Did they ever tell you why you got denied ?

They said all my issues could be controlled with meds?! The bariatric surgeon basically told me that this is their common response in order not to try to pay for it.... but I appealed it ...and they had 30 days to get back to me...

And now I got approved ...yaaaay!! ????

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
