Jump on the Goal Train

Recommended Posts

So I just joined this group this evening but am excited to write down some goals. Maybe that will get my behind in gear. I have been eating great but just don't seem to have enough energy to exercise. GRRRR. So here are my goals.

1. Walk 30-45 minutes a day 5x per week.

2. Be below 200 by Christmas

3. Be out of those ugly, look like they were rejected upholstery from the 1970's, plus size clothing by Valentines!

I have no idea if they are realistic, but at least it is something to look forward to!

Good luck to us all!

Wow, you guys are doing great! Good job Salsa1877, we were banded the same day right? I can't think of a goal better than being in the onederland by december. It's been ages!! I too would like to do Water aerobics, but with school and work I don't have the time. So, I'll be getting in walking when I can. Also I have a great pilates tape. I got to get my butt in gear!!!!!

Getting under 200 is definitely a short term goal for me, but what really motivates me are clothing sizes. On the day I started my pre-op diet I was wearing a very tight size 20. Today, 12 days post-op, I'm down 19lb and the 20s are bagging. I haven't had the nerve to try on my 18s, but will have to soon. I have 16's in the closet too, but nothing smaller than that. Getting into a comfortable size 14 will be A MAJOR MILESTONE FOR ME! (Haven't been in a 14 since 1998) My ultimate size goal is 10, which may be a stretch, I would be just as happy in a 12. Anything outside the plus-size section will work for me!!!

I'm right there with ya. I started out at a size 24 this time, and now my size 20 stuff is comfy. I only have 1-2 size 18 pieces anywhere so it will soon be time to hit the stores. (or at least the second hand shops! I don't want to spend tons of money on clothes that I am going to shrink out of!) Last night, I tried on a jacket that was a 1X (rather than the 2x that I have worn for 10 years) and it fit! woohoo!

Moving on down!!!! Yee Haww! 21lbs down - 14 days post-op. I'm soooooo excited! I have NEVER in my life lost 21lbs (unless I had just had a baby - which does not count to me) I'm thrilled!!! I've also had a great experience with the band so far, no complications. I have an AP band, so it had some restriction from the get go. First fill Oct. 3rd. LOOKING FORWARD TO IT!

How are ya'll doing?

I'd like to be 250 by my vacation to Disney on 10/21/07. That's 24lbs

I was walking my dog for 45 minutes a day, 5-6 days per week for about 3 weeks before surgery. I'd like to get back to that and even exceed it, in the next 2 weeks.

Well - it's been 2 weeks since I posted this and I am back up to about 45 minute walks but I haven't gone longer yet.

I have lost 8 more lbs though!!! I have 16lbs to go!

Still losing! I've slowed down, but still losing before my first fill (which is set for Oct 3) I have had a few scary "I'm eating too much too fast" moments - band put me in check, with pain under my sternum and watery-mouth nausea that made me run for the toilet to throw up, but didn't. (didn't eat anything else after that though!) I suppose this is what I signed up for when I plunked down $15k and had this surgery! My band is doing its job and keeping me out of trouble. It flat out stops me from eating! Isn't that the point?? I think so, and I'm GLAD FOR IT! Down 25lb / 21 days post-op and wore a size 16 (Lane Bryant, but still) pair of pants to work today and they were comfy, almost loose fitting! (On the day I was banded I was busting out of Lane Bryant 20's) This IS what I signed up for, and I'm totally in love with my band!

Way to go Candle and Sheaross! Progress is a wonderful and inspiring thing for all of us. Any more updates out there?

for my self:

1. the onederland goal is now only 20 pounds away. :biggrin1: I just got my first fill on Wednesday so we'll see how it goes.

and

2. I have 10 of 45 walk/run exercise sessions done. I think this won't be a problem for me, :guess so I might have to kick it up a notch and make a goal about running. Hmmm.

frog.

I'd like to start with a goal of losing 8 lbs. in September. Tomorrow is my one month bandiversary and I have to wait 8 weeks for my first fill, so I'm completely on my own (no restriction throughout September). I don't want to set myself up for failure, but I want to stay motivated and I think about 2 lbs. a week should be doable.

I am in the same boat Texas Becky! I was banded 8/27 and will not get a fill until mid October. I will do the same as Becky and take 2 lbs a week. No restriction is scary and a bit frustrating for me!!!

Well I never set any specific goals but I have started to exercise. I just finished my first full week of going to curves and working out for 30 minutes, 5 days in a row. That in itself is a huge accomplishment for me. I have never ... ever... started a workout program before let alone do it for 5 days in a row. I am looking forward to continuing it and being able to adding more types of exercise into my routine.

I also have finally put away a pair of jeans to save as my before pants. I put them on today and they had gotten so big that i felt like I had clown pants on. I finally had to go and change. I have gone from wearing a loose 34 to a snug 28/30 in pants and in shirts I have gone from a snug 32 to a loose 30.

Everyone here is doing so well. I love to come and read about everyones accomplishments. Keep up the good work everyone!!!:clap2:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
