My 6 month surgeriversary

Recommended Posts

It's my 6 month surgeriversary. It's been a hard, long road. I've learned so much about myself over the past 6 months. I am a strong person, I can overcome the worst of situations, and I am beautiful. I've learned lessons about love, life, and pain. It has been the hardest 6 months of my life. It's not easy learning a whole new life habit, it's like I've learned how to live all over again. I've had some amazing family and friends stick by my side through all the times, they have cried with me, laughed with me, celebrated with me, encouraged me, and been there for me when I needed it. I have also learned heart break, I've had people who I thought were there for me leave my side, and even go as far as to say things behind my back, and even to my face (and not nice things). Through all this I have come out on top. See I'm a new me, the old me is gone, I am a more confident person today than I was 6 months ago. I've worked hard to get where I am today, and I'm not done yet.

I've lost 120+ pounds since March 7, I've gone down 5 dress sizes, I've found the inner strength to join a gym, work out, and yes, I'm training for 2 5K's this spring. If you would have asked me a year ago about all of this I would have laughed at you. I never knew that I had this in me. My journey is far from over, but I know my path is not going to be smooth, but I know because of the love and support I have from family and friends that I will get there.

Thank you to everyone who has been there for me, thank you to everyone who has said encouraging things to me, thank you to everyone who has prayed for me, and yes, thank you to everyone who didn't have my back, you've all made me the strong person I am today. I've included some pictures with this post showing my journey. post-292029-14732532313233_thumb.jpg post-292029-14732532970227_thumb.jpg post-292029-14732533171538_thumb.jpg post-292029-14732533340488_thumb.jpg

Oh... My... Gosh! You look amazing and it sounds like you FEEL AMAZING. This may sound harsh but, I would count the people that left your side as extra weight as well. In today's world, we HAVE to be supportive of people's gender identity, sexual preference, religious views etc. but not one movement has been made to support those that are on a journey to be healthy! I see it the same as a journey to find who you are.

Btw... Nice hooters

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
