@Kittymom@wendilin. had my surgery on Sept 14 th. No real complications or anything to make me regret it. Surgery was on a Wednesday. Went home on Saturday. For the most part it was pain free. You wake up drugged. Over next two days you drink an once or two at a time and walk You may gain weight as I did from IV. This weight comes off in next week. as you did the pre op diet just another couple weeks of liquids and your new life begins.

I hope this relieves some of your anxieties. Best of luck. s

Had a rough morning, I guess it has all hit me, that I'm having WLS tomorrow, my emotions are all over the place. I question, should I do this, I don't want to, then I do. I'm pretty sure this is normal.

I feel the same, my surgery is Wednesday. I've been able to lose 40 pounds on my own, so I'm questioning if I really need it. But then I think that I do need it, but then I worry ......hope all goes well for you tomorrow!

I had my RNY done last Monday and was discharged late Tuesday afternoon. No issues before, during or after. My bariatric team has been first rate! The doctor has been doing these procedures for years and has developed a bariatric bible for his patients to follow and refer to throughout the process. He is very thorough and conservative in his approach. Trust your bariatric team to help you get to where you've always wanted to go but we're unable to get there. Whenever I started to have a doubt, I reflected back onto a statement made by my primary doctor: "I can't remember ever treating a 300 lb 80 yearold."

I'm two days out, so I'm curious as to what has been more difficult? At this point, I'm worried much less about weight loss, and more about hydration and recovery.

Hydration for me

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App

To get proper hydration, I've found it helpful to use Propel throughout the day. 2 bottles provide almost 38oz and 3 1 oz shots of ProSource liquid Protein (45 grams total) and 8 oz of 100% apple juice provides base of 49 oz hydration. That is supplemented by sugar-free Gelatin, sugar-free popsicles and Decaf coffee to increase the hydration level.

I'm also two days out and besides the gas pain and feeling like I've done a thousand crunches, I feel pretty good. I am definitely not looking at the scale yet, and am just focused on getting what I need in my body. Good luck to everyone! It will all be worth it!

I just got home from my first post-op followup on my Sept 19th RNY. I was given the go ahead to move to phase 2 of the post-op diet and discovered I've lost 9.2 lbs since the morning of surgery. New weight is 383. Total loss from high point of 428 is 45 pounds.

To this point it has been a matter of just putting one step in front of the other and moving forward. Wishing all a fantastic weekend

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
