I have battled weight my whole life. My dad is a big guy, as is one of my aunts, and food was treated as a reward for most everything. We always ate very good meals growing up, with a salad every night, but my mom always thought I was overweight. That rubs off on a kid, so I felt overweight. I remember being on diets from the time I was about 12-13. The cottage cheese and tuna diet was the first I truly remember. But, I've done them all: SlimFast, Atkins, South Beach, Weight Watchers, no white foods, etc. I have lost on these programs, but then something always happens and I gain it back and then some.

Now it's really hit an all time high and I don't want to keep going this way. I am pre-diabetic and want to reverse that trajectory now. My dad has all sorts of health problems and I don't want that to be me. Plus, I want to do some things that I can't do at this weight: shop at regular stores, go zip-lining, just be "normal."

I want to feel proud of my body and my strength.  I also want my kids to feel proud of their mom, and not be embarrassed by my weight.

I have a RNY (bypass) scheduled for September 28, 2016. I am looking forward to getting to know myself after the surgery.
