Hi y'all! I am 3 weeks post op for gastric sleeve. I can't handle swallowing anything other than Soup, Jello or pudding. I'm trying to introduce soft mushy foods, but everything seems to get stuck going down. I have tried oatmeal that had been watered down, thin grits and tuna fish salad. I'm not sure what to do and the idea of liquids forever is freaking me out! Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I'm having a hard time swallowing, too. Even a sip makes me nauseous and feels like it's having a hard time going down. I'm only 1 day post-OP, but I guess I didn't expect this much pain.

That's all you should be eating right now anyways. I'm not sure what your surgeon recommended but I had to do liquids for 2 weeks started purees week 3 but when I felt things were a little uncomfortable I scaled back. It's normal advance diet as tolerated the stages are a guideline. If you feel more comfortable eating puddings and Soups then stick with that for a while and introduce puree consistency foods one day at a time.

I'm @5weeks today and in the soft food phase but the majority of my foods are still liquids and purees mostly. It's what I feel most comfortable eating right now. I work on getting my Protein and Fluid needs met, then I find I don't have room for much else. If I do I make sure it has a purpose.

For example if I have a greek yogurt in the morning then that's my Breakfast. 15g of Protein yay. I'll sip Water over the next 2-3 hours until my next meal to work on getting my fluids in then maybe for lunch I'll have Soup or a kale and fruit smoothie I add greek yogurt and a scoop of Protein powder or I make it with a premier shake for a min of 30g of protein. Then back to sipping 30 min later over the next 2-3 hours then dinner might be pureed tuna, or turkey chili if I can handle it. 1/4 cup or 2oz serving over a min of 30 min or else I feel sick. Then back to sipping. If I still have protein to get in, ill have a Protein Shake or yogurt to get it in. Then I'm done for the day. I try to have my last meal no later than 8pm.

So don't sweat it. Stay with where you are comfortable, introduce foods slowly, and don't advance just because you can wait til you're ready. It can't hurt.

Tomorrow will be a month & I eat slices of cheese,of course I eat small pieces & make sure I chew them up really good. Do you guys think it's too soon for solid food like that? I feel comfortable eating cheese. I even had a tuna salad sandwich one day,it was cut into 4 small pieces& again, I chewed it up very good.It took me a while to eat it,but it was so tasty!!!!!

Try eating slowly. I have the same feeling a lot still and I am 3 months post op and thought I was overeating. I asked my surgeon about the stuck feeling and he said it is a spasm from eating too fast. I hope this helps

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
