Has anyone had to get a small hiatal hernia repair along with your sleeve? If so does it make you in much more pain? or does it make you feel more sick?

I did. It did not make the surgery any more painful, but I do feel a little discomfort (I don't want to call it pain)after, almost like the opening is too small for even liquids to go down, and I have to wait for it to pass. It is supposed to get better soon, I am only a week post.

I had one as well. Doc said it's actually super-common in all people, not just those overweight and that most never get treatment as it doesn't always cause major complications or even symptoms. Mine was small, but having never had either surgery before this one, I couldn't tell you if it added to the discomfort or not, but I will say I never had anything I would call "pain". I would label it as discomfort and nothing more.

Thank you both!! Did you also have GERD before surgery? And if so did it worsen or get better?

I have battled ulcers and such since I was a teen (nervous stomach), but my heartburn etc was controlled with meds before surgery
