I don't seem to be losing very much...

Recommended Posts

I'm almost 6 weeks out from surgery and have lost 23 lbs since surgery (weight at surgery was 238 lbs). This seems to be a lot less than others have lost.

I consume approx 800 calories a day and most days stay under 50g of carbs. I'm a vegetarian who doesn't eat eggs so getting in enough Protein has always been a challenge - I max out at 60g of protein most days. I can't stand the taste of Protein shakes so those are no longer in my repertoire.

I've only just begun working out in effort to speed up the weight loss.

I've had an extra-long period for the last 10 days which might be contributing to the holding on of weight.

Any ideas on why I might not be losing as much?

You are averaging 4 pounds weight loss per week over a 6 week period. That is phenomenal! Stop comparing yourself to others, it is pointless and frustrating. Everyone is different, focus on YOU!

Don't feel bad. I'm not loosing very fast either. I was sleeves on June 14 and have only lost 20 pounds. I consume about 500 calories a day. I haven't been exercising much because it's been so blasted hot in SC. I thought I would have lost a lot more than I have.

You've lost 10% of your body weight in 6 weeks, stop complaining.

Err... Thanks guys. Hadn't really thought of my weight loss using math. Maybe a kick up the jacksie is what I needed. Will stop complaining.

You are doing great. I know exactly what you are feeling, though. I expected this to happen much faster for me, too. I have learned a lot about my body and what I respond to better and what I don't respond to at all, etc. Sometimes we feel as though nothing is happening, when in fact our body is working pretty hard at making huge changes. These things take time, but you will get there if you stick with it. Best wishes to you! Keep the faith!

You're doing great! We are all different - we will all lose at different rates. Starting at a lower weight than many of us - it may seem slower to you (but it's really not)!

How much Protein are you getting? Fluids and Proteins are important - don't worry about restricting calories. And 20 lbs is great! Congrats!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
