Hi.! I am just starting out as well. I just had my consultation with the surgeon last week. My insurance requires 6 months MSWL as well with my first appointment counting in August. It seems like such a long wait. But trying to use the time to get myself mentally prepared as possible. Good luck to all of you fellow newbies

I went to the information meeting a couple months ago, then the psych evaluation, then the nutritional thing by phone for 15 minutes. That all took a about 6 weeks. Then it all was submitted to BCBS of IL, that took a month for the letter of approval to get to the dr.

I was SO impatient and worried that I wouldn't get approved since I have nothing wrong with me as a result of being a little heavy. Approved though! I needed no supervised diet or anything. The downside is the surgery was scheduled for Sept. 20th and that feels like forever! I just want to get it done. In the meanwhile, I'm trying to drop some weight like the nutritionist advised.

I am a newbie as well. Met with my surgeon and I'm just now starting all of the requirements. I have to do a 3 month diet starting August 4th to November 4th. Hoping I can get the surgery before the end of the year....

I'm a new one also. Started my required 6 month diet on June 3, met Dr. Siddiqui July 28. A bit nervous as I'm 58 and have never had surgery other than tonsils out. I hate hospitals, but I want this more than anything right now so willing to bite the bullet.

Glad to find an active forum. This will be a main support to me as I am very rural now. Used to be a city girl, but more into peace and quiet now.

Good to see other newbies starting out too. A toast to us all, may we become all we hope to be, and more.

Adela ;)

I am going in for my consultation on the 9th from what I understand I will have to do the 6 month supervised diet which I believe I inadvertently started last month when I got intimidated out of bringing up the sleeve with my pcp so I spent this month arming myself with knowledge and am ready to go and see her to let her into the loop before I visit with my surgeon. Can I just say this entire process is so daunting some days I am so certain I have all the knowledge I need to pursue this and other days I'm just like oh god this is going to be a disaster isn't it? Lol good ol' anxiety.

@@cassandra I'm nervous too, not for the same reasons you are but I have my own demons that I fear the will disqualify me for, so we're in the same boat. All I can do is read these boards and pray that it won't be a problem, my initial consultation with the surgeon is Aug 10

I had the weight center orientation in June. I have to wait 3 months for my initial nut/psych/MD appointment, which isn't until Aug 31. I've done a TON of research and confirmed requirements with my insurance company. UGH. I just want my appointment to come already!

I'm in the same boat as you were! I have no "real" comorbidities, BMI just at 40, but I'm hoping that because all my medical records show I've been almost constantly dieting for the last 6 years that if I do get an initial denial from BCBS-MA, I can appeal it pretty easy. Fingers crossed!

Sept 20 will be here before you know it. Plenty of time to get those "food funerals" in.

I'm just starting. I had my initial appointment on July 27th and also have to wait 6 months. I'm a little bummed because I thought it was 3 but that's ok. They throw a lot at you. It can be a bit overwhelming but I'm determined!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
