Feeling frustrated-Not going to meet the goal

At my one month appointment I had lost 25 lbs. My surgeon gave me a goal to lose an additional 25 lbs by my 3 month appointment on 7/29.

As the date approaches I am feeling very frustrated and discouraged. I have lost a whopping 8 lbs so far!! 8 POUNDS!! Are you serious!!??

I am getting in my Protein and liquids and started working out with a trainer.

Why am I losing so little and so slow?? I have experienced several stalls along the way which I know is common.

Please. Any suggestions would be appreciated to help me reach my goal.

Surgery date: 5/2/16

This goal sounds like a "maximum" you could potentially reach, not a minimum. Besides, what is he going to do if you don't make goal? He can't take the surgery back. :) Just track and record food and activity and take it to your apppointment. When he sees your sincere effort, he may be able to help you better.

Whoa! Nobody should eat 600 calories a day if they can help it. Your metabolism will be seriously screwed up if you maintain that. My program calls for 1200 a day as soon as you can get that much in.

Thank you everyone for your comments, suggestions and support. @@Babbs I didn't see your comment only in @@LipstickLady comment. Thank you!! . @kmorrri I'm trying to keep up with you and crystal ! No luck. I'm going to focus on tracking. I am slacking there. Going to get strict on my choices and get in at least my 30 min a day of exercise. I appreciate you all!! [emoji172]

Dear Lord! If you ate nothing but 600 calories a day for any length of time, your body would learn how to maintain its functions on 600 calories a day. You can't sustain that kind of restriction for very long without getting sick, so as soon as you go back above 600 calories a day, guess what happens. You GAIN weight. Be careful and take care!

Hmmm....that's weird. I can't see Babb's post anymore either.

@@Alex Brecher , where did Babb's posts go? SO STRANGE!!! This board has been wacky lately. :D

Message board Bastille Day glitchiness?

This morning I received a PM from a new member (we were mid-conversation) who said she could see I'd replied to her previous PM, but she couldn't open it.

I then replied back (twice), and she received and could open both of those PMs.

Weird!

Have you tried upping your protein a bit? Personally, I would try for closer to 75 grams than 65 grams, if you aren't willing to increase your protein.

Hello all. Today I had a follow up appt. with my surgeon and he said I should be following a 600 cal. no carb diet. Do any of you follow such a strict diet?

@sleever068. How long ago did you have your surgery? I was on Clear liquids only the first 2 weeks after my surgery. Then the 4 weeks after that I was on soft / mushy foods and Protein. shakes. Those first weeks on soft foods I could probably only eat about 600 calories a day because of the swelling from the surgery. At that point most of what I ate was protein.

At my 6 week follow up I asked how many calories I should eat and was told 1200-1400!! Since I can't eat that much in a day I usually eat between 800-1100 calories. I am now 2 months out. I try to eat 60-80 grams of protein and eat fruit once a day and grains 1-2 times a day.

My surgeon recommends eating a balanced diet and of course I take Vitamins, Calcium and Iron supplements.

I've never been given a calorie target and never been told how much weight I SHOULD lose. Odd. When I asked my NUT about the calories, her reply was if I ate according to plan, I'd get enough in.

Oddly also, when we were discussing condiments as I transitioned to a regular diet, basically she said I did not need to go low fat options. Her reasoning? Say my meal included 2 meatballs and I wanted to put bbq sauce on them, it was only 2 little meatballs- they can't HOLD that much sauce to get me into trouble. Same with a small salad and dressing, etc. Now, I have never cared for anything floating in condiments, but for some that may be a dangerous "go ahead"! Perhaps she told me this because she knows my eating habits so well? Don't know.

As for my surgeon- has never given me a goal to lose since pre op. He did mention at my 3 month appointment that months 3-9 were the "sweet spot" for the most weight loss. I laughed because by that point I'd already dropped the equivalent of a fourth grader and didn't think it could get better than that!

Good luck!
