Hi my name is Ev and I'm almost at my two year mark with the gastric sleeve. It's been a long journey for me. In the beginning I was so motivated and lost 60 pounds but once I started plateauing I had lost hope in myself. Now I've been on the right track eating healthier and working out. I officially lost 70 pounds and I'm no longer seeing 200 pounds on my scale! Woohoo! I am around 30 pounds away from my goal weight but I still do not feel comfortable with myself. I was wondering if anyone else looks in the mirror and still sees themselves at that beginning weight?

Congrats on losing 70 lbs!Body dysmorphia is real. I have moments all the time where I feel like I am larger than I am. I think it's normal but ultimately it's annoying because it is a source of discontent. I did find that some weights just felt better than others as well. For example I felt like a fox at around 155 lbs but felt dumpy/frumpy at around 145. No real advice for you other than keep plugging away. You can get to goal.

First off, congrats on the weight loss and good on you for the hard work; You look incredible! Second, I completely know what you are talking about when looking in the mirror. I don't see me at the starting weight reflected back, but I keep thinking there is someone else looking back. Like perhaps they are just in front of my reflection!

It's not just the mirror either. Even when referring to myself in conversation I still describe myself as a fat guy or big guy. People that don't know me for very long have a confused look on their face. It just takes time I believe. I am becoming more comfortable everyday though!

You look great, you really do. I am 8 months out and also in a rut. I haven't lost any weight in about 2 months and before that I was stalled for 6 weeks (lost 6 lbs between these 2 stall). I am also about 30 lbs from goal and struggle with my image. I don't see the loss and am not comfortable in my skin. I am in a size 10 pants and a medium top (previously a 22 pants and a 2xl top). I understand 110% what these stalls do to motivation. I am on track still (I'd say 95% of the time) but some days I wonder if this is it for me. It is encouraging for me to see your post and know you aren't giving up and neither should I. Thank you!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
